MBC (CEO Ahn Hyeong-jun) announced that it will participate in the ‘3 Seoul Mobility Show’, which will be held at KINTEX for a total of 31 days from March 4 to April 9.

MBC (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation) began providing high-precision RTK GPS services in 2017 and is currently selling a variety of high-precision GPS terminals. MBC explains that based on the broadcasting technology, IT services, and RTK precision positioning technology it has accumulated so far, its RTK products are being used not only in the drone field but also in various mobility fields that require high-precision location information. MBC RTK products have a built-in satellite correction information service built in-house, and users can use cm-level RTK precision positioning technology anywhere in the country using LTE and DMB networks without the need for a separate reference station.

This exhibition focuses on products for drones and autonomous vehicles. SMC-2000 is an ultra-light RTK GPS device equipped with LTE communication and MBC RTK correction information service as standard, and is suitable for application to drones, UAM, and robots. SMC-2000 has both precision positioning and LTE communication, but its advantages are that it is small, sturdy, and light. In particular, MBC emphasized the reasonable price and the fact that it can be easily purchased from partner companies’ online malls.

MGI-2000 is a combination of RTK GPS and inertial navigation system for autonomous vehicles. This product is equipped with high-performance Automotive DR technology that uses not only IMU but also vehicle speed information, allowing continuous navigation even in tunnels and underpasses where GPS satellites are not visible. MGI-2000 can maintain a positioning error of 2% even in tunnel sections and is capable of high-resolution output at 30Hz. In addition, it provides vehicle attitude information and true heading information using dual antennas, so it can be used for various purposes in areas developing autonomous vehicles, and its advantage is that it is cheaper than foreign equipment.

An MBC official said, “Our RTK is applied to more than 150 drone aircraft and is used all over the country. With the launch of the new product SMC-2000, we aim to sell 500 units per year this year, and expect to apply it to more than 1,000 commercial drones per year in the future. In addition, we are planning to develop and export existing MBC RTK products globally. “Through this, we want to cooperate so that when domestic mobility companies enter overseas markets, they can more easily solve precise positioning and communication issues by applying MBC RTK terminals.”

In addition, “We hope that various mobility industries such as drones and autonomous vehicles, as well as robots, ships, and agricultural machinery, will develop using the precise and stable positioning technology provided by MBC RTK. The government recently announced that it would innovate the traffic regulations for outdoor robots, and it is expected that MBC RTK will be needed in more and more mobility fields. “Through this exhibition, we will let you know more about MBC RTK,” he said, adding, “MBC will become a precise and safe guide in the future mobility field.”

Meanwhile, the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show will be held on the theme of ‘Sustainable Connected Mobility (Sustainable and Intelligent Mobility Revolution)’ at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1 in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, starting with Press Day on March 3 (Thursday) and ending on April 30 ( days) to be held. The total exhibition size is 4㎡, more than twice as large as the previous event (9㎡), and more than 53,541 companies and institutions from 26,310 countries around the world will participate to showcase various mobility contents.
