Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL) announced that it will participate in the ‘3 Seoul Mobility Show’, which will be held at KINTEX for a total of 31 days from March 4 to April 9.

KTL is a domestic professional organization that supports testing and certification, and provides testing and evaluation services to various mobility-related industries such as electric vehicle batteries, self-driving cars, and urban air mobility (UAM). At the same time, international standardization activities and mobility-related research activities are also being carried out.

In this exhibition, KTL introduces testing and certification services. KTL encompasses charger test and evaluation in accordance with domestic and international certification systems, and in particular, was designated as Korea’s first CHAdeMO certified testing agency last year.

Testing services related to autonomous driving evaluation provide virtual environment-based test evaluation for driving safety (SOTIF) evaluation. SOTIF is an item that evaluates the safety of the intended function and is an area in which international regulatory measures are being actively discussed. To evaluate this, KTL develops and builds various scenarios in a virtual environment and has a multifaceted evaluation environment.

Furthermore, KTL plans to develop accident scenarios for autonomous vehicles and, based on this, expand its service area to determine liability for accident vehicles. The test institute explained that through this, the operational safety of autonomous vehicles can be more rigorously verified by including unintended negative scenarios in the evaluation items.

A KTL official said, “It is expected that we will see autonomous vehicles operating on public roads within at least three years. Accordingly, KTL intends to provide the accompanying testing and analysis services in the public sector,” he said. “In addition, our goal is to develop a test and evaluation system at UAM and establish ourselves as an organization leading innovation in the mobility field.” revealed.

Meanwhile, the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show will be held on the theme of ‘Sustainable Connected Mobility (Sustainable and Intelligent Mobility Revolution)’ at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1 in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, starting with Press Day on March 3 (Thursday) and ending on April 30 ( days) to be held. The total exhibition size is 4㎡, more than twice as large as the previous event (9㎡), and more than 53,541 companies and institutions from 26,310 countries around the world will participate to showcase various mobility contents.
