Kakao announced on the 24th that it has published ‘Kakao Corona White Paper, Second Story: Our and Kakao’s Efforts to Overcome Corona’, which dataizes records of use of major services such as KakaoTalk during the COVID-19 period.

This is the second white paper after publishing the ‘Kakao Corona White Paper’, which examined the impact and changes Kakao services had on daily life before and after the outbreak and continued spread of COVID-19 in September of last year.

This white paper covers Kakao’s services and support activities to overcome the pandemic that has lasted more than two years. It consists of seven areas, including ▲provision of information related to COVID-19 ▲cooperation services with the government ▲efforts to support small business owners ▲fundraising to overcome COVID-19 ▲support for safe movement ▲activation of non-face-to-face communication ▲support for Kakao Crew. Kakao communities such as Kakao Games, Kakao Mobility, Kakao Bank, Kakao Pay, and Ground X also participated.

During the COVID-19 period, people viewed COVID-19-related information on the Kakao platform 2,297,309,797 times. Public services related to COVID-19, such as non-face-to-face classes, QR check-in, and vaccine reservations, were connected 4,318,376,636 times (number of uses and number of messages sent from the time of service to the present) through the Kakao platform.

Various support was also provided for small business owners experiencing difficulties due to COVID-19. A total of 22.34 billion won was provided to support sales channels, service fee refunds, and interest and interest rate support.

In addition, as a result of raising money for vulnerable groups due to COVID-19 through Kakao Together Value, a total of 5,881,054,062 won (Kakao community-user donations combined) was raised with active participation from the public.

Anyone can download the Kakao Corona white paper for free from Kakao Brunch, and will also provide a TTS (text-to-speech) service to listen to the content as a voice through smart devices such as Kakao Mini and Kakao Mini Hexa.

Hong Eun-taek, head of ESG at Kakao, said, “This white paper, published for the second time, attempted to reflect Kakao’s and our society’s various efforts to overcome COVID-19 through Kakao’s data.” He added, “We have overcome the long-running pandemic through everyone’s efforts.” “I hope that the speed of recovery to daily life becomes more complete and faster,” he said.
