Smilegate Stove, Smilegate’s game platform operation and indie game distribution subsidiary, strengthened support for developers and acquired its own rating classification business license to expand the distribution and base of indie games and create a healthy game ecosystem.
Smilegate Stove has been negotiating with the Game Management Committee for the past year to designate its own rating classification business. With this designation as an independent rating classification service provider, Stove will be able to support indie games to be released more easily and quickly through ‘Stove Indie’, which is currently in service. Accordingly, we plan to enable creators who are developing for release as well as prospective creators who have lightly developed games to easily register and publish their games.
In addition, we plan to present a guide on how to review ratings on ‘Stove Indie’ and provide guidance to indie game creators so that they can more easily request rating reviews.
Han Young-un, CEO of Smilegate Stove, said, “As Stove has been designated as an independent rating classification business, we expect that great benefits will accrue to both developers, creators, and users who enjoy games.” He added, “We will continue to fully support indie game development and provide healthy “We will put a lot of effort into creating a gaming ecosystem.”
Meanwhile, even if the game has acquired its own rating classification business qualification, under the current law, the rating not suitable for use by youth must be reviewed by the Game Management Committee, so it was decided to continue the existing review support.
