Kakao announced that the amount paid through the ‘Kakao Small Merchant Support Benefit’, which started on the 3rd of last month, exceeded 5 billion won as of August 31. The number of small business owners who received payment support amounts to approximately 17,000.

Kakao’s ‘Kakao Small Business Support Benefit’ is a win-win activity that supports the cost of sending channel messages so that small business owners across the country can use the KakaoTalk channel to secure regular customers and carry out marketing. Any individual or corporate business with annual sales of less than KRW 1 billion as reported by the National Tax Service can apply.

After receiving the application and screening, Kakao provides an amount sufficient to send approximately 10,000 to 20,000 KakaoTalk channel messages. If you have 1,000 friends, you can spend time with them once a month for more than a year.

Park Yoon-seok, head of the Kakao Small Business Coexistence TF, said, “We were able to confirm the high interest of small business owners who hesitated due to the cost and accessibility issues of digital marketing, and in the future, we plan to create a long-term win-win program that can continue to support more small business owners by referring to various opinions.” .

Meanwhile, in addition to the support benefits for small merchants, Kakao is conducting the ‘Our Neighborhood Regular Market’ program with Kakao Impact and MKYU. ‘Our Neighborhood Regular Market’ is a program where a digital tutor resides in the market for eight weeks for merchants who have difficulty communicating digitally, educates them on the KakaoTalk channel, and provides benefits and support to help them easily communicate with regulars. The first project is currently underway at Shinyeong Market in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, and 10 additional traditional markets across the country are scheduled to be selected.
