Spring Cloud Co., Ltd. announced on the 23rd that it signed an MOU with Manna CEA, an ICT smart farm company, to agree to joint research and development and service projects for smart agricultural and fishery solutions using autonomous driving mobility technology.

SpringCloud is a company specializing in self-driving mobility solutions and provides self-driving mobility services and data analysis services based on artificial intelligence. After obtaining the temporary operation permit for self-driving vehicles for the first time as a private company in Korea, it has been approved by Seoul, Daegu, Sejong, etc. We have been pursuing the expansion of our self-driving shuttle service business, including self-driving data centers, smart garages, and on-demand services in Gunsan and Seoul National University of Science and Technology.

Manna CEA is a company that develops and distributes greenhouse environmental control systems and hydroponic cultivation systems that can be applied to various environments. It has distributed smart farm facilities not only in Korea but also in Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.

In Korea, salad products are made from vegetables produced directly through directly managed farms and farms that supply equipment, and are sold through online shopping malls, creating a system that can help farmers in the entire agricultural process from production to sales. It is being built. Recently, a smart farm export contract was signed with Mongolia, and an aquaponics hydroponic cultivation system for farmers who run small vegetable gardens or gardens is also being developed and distributed.

Through this MOU, the two companies decided to develop self-driving mobility convergence services applicable to smart agriculture and fishing solutions, and to promote necessary technological cooperation and joint research and development. First, we plan to jointly operate an in-store ‘Smart Farm’ service at Multiverse Planet Yeosu, which is operated by Spring Cloud, and expand our business into smart farming and fishing services combined with autonomous driving mobility technology.

Spring Cloud CEO Song Young-gi said, “We are well aware of the difficulties faced by rural communities due to environmental changes and labor shortages,” and added, “Future technologies resulting from the development of the 4th and 6th industries will enable highly efficient farming and fishing.” reported.

Jeon Tae-byeong, CEO of Manna CEA, said, “In agriculture and fisheries, even if only mobility services such as harvest transportation become unmanned and self-driving, tremendous work efficiency and cost reduction will be possible.” He added, “Through continued cooperation between the two companies, autonomous driving mobility and smart farming and fishing solutions will be integrated.” “We hope to secure a well-established service model and use it as a future rural regeneration project model,” he said.

Meanwhile, Spring Cloud is currently operating ‘Multibus Planet (MVP) Yeosu,’ a self-driving theme park for citizens. In addition, self-driving shuttles will be operated on a 3.4km section of the coastal road within Yeosu Expo, and a playground where various future mobility services and contents can be educated and experienced is scheduled to open this November.
