    Samyang Corporation, a food and chemical affiliate of Samyang Group, announced that it will participate in the health functional raw materials and product exhibition ‘HI (Health Ingredients) KOREA 2022’ and introduce specialty (highly functional) food ingredients.

    This exhibition, which will be held at COEX in Seoul for three days from the 28th to the 30th, is expected to be a success with 190 companies related to health functional foods, pharmaceuticals, bio, and beauty participating and about 5,000 visitors. Anyone can attend for free by pre-registering for the exhibition until the 23rd.

    Samyang Corporation plans to attract customers and raise awareness of specialty brands through this exhibition, which it is participating in for the first time. Specialty food ingredients are the growth engine of Samyang Food Group, which produces and supplies alternative sweetener allulose and functional food ingredients prebiotics to companies.

    This exhibition focuses on indigestible maltodextrin and fructooligosaccharide, materials that can indicate functionality in general foods. The functional labeling system is a system that allows general foods to be labeled that the product contains ingredients known to help with specific functionality in accordance with the information notified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

    Indigestible maltodextrin, produced by Samyang Corporation under the brand name Fiberist, is a functional ingredient that helps smooth bowel movements, suppresses the rise in blood sugar levels after meals, and improves neutral lipids in the blood. It can be used in beverages, confectionery, bakery, fermented milk, etc. In addition, fructooligosaccharide is a type of prebiotic and is a health functional food ingredient that can help proliferate beneficial bacteria in the intestines and facilitate bowel movements. It has a sweet taste similar to sugar and can be applied to dairy products and processed chocolate products.

    Samyang Corporation also exhibits other specialty food ingredients, allulose (liquid, crystal) and kestose. Allulose is a sweet ingredient found in figs, grapes, etc. It has a sweet taste similar to sugar and has zero calories, so it is called the optimal next-generation sweetener. Kestose is one of the main ingredients of fructo-oligosaccharides, and Samyang Corporation is conducting human application tests to have Kestose recognized as a health functional food ingredient.

    At the exhibition promotion booth, Samyang Company will present samples of specialty raw materials as well as product lines using specialty materials such as beverages, confectionery, cereals, sauces, confectionery, and ice cream. To help booth visitors understand and attract their attention, we plan to distribute company introductions and promotional brochures for the functional labeling system.
