    Samyang Foods signed a business agreement with Sogang University (hereinafter referred to as Sogang University) to establish a research center for industry-academia cooperation and conduct joint research.

    On this day, the agreement ceremony was held at Sogang University’s president’s office. In attendance were Samyang Foods Vice President Kim Jeong-soo, Samyang Foods Vice President Jang Jae-seong, Samyang Foods Strategic Operations Division Head Jeon Byeong-woo, Samyang Foods Food Research Center Director Kim Hong-beom, Sogang University President Shim Jong-hyuk, Sogang University Vice President Kim Soon-gi, Sogang University External Exchange Director Jeong Ok-hyun, Sogang University College of Engineering Dean Choi Jeong-woo, and others attended. It was decided to establish a research institute for cooperation and promote joint research.

    The main contents of the agreement include ▲reconstruction of Sogang University’s Rich Annex (RA Building) and opening of a research center ▲promotion of joint research in food and biotechnology ▲securing applied technology through the formation of a research network.

    Kim Jeong-su, Vice Chairman of Samyang Foods, said, “We signed this agreement because we share the recognition that close cooperative research between industry and academia is necessary for the development of future biotechnology, including the food industry.” He added, “We will use the research and development capabilities of Samyang Foods and Sogang University in the future.” “By strengthening this, we will improve the competitiveness of the national food industry and contribute to public health.”

    Sogang University President Shim Jong-hyuk said, “With social contribution as the cornerstone of corporate management, we will actively conduct joint research and produce excellent human resources through an agreement with Samyang Foods, which has a vision for biotechnology, a key industry of the future.”

    Meanwhile, Samyang Foods expanded its research center early this year to realize the goal of future food research based on sustainable development for social development, economic growth, and environmental preservation, and focused on future food research such as plant tissue proteins, microbiome, and functional food materials. We plan to focus on the development of eco-friendly materials.
