Alchera announced that its facial recognition solution passed the ‘Presentation Attack Detection (PAD)’ test by iBeta in the United States. It is the first in Korea to be certified as a ‘passive’ facial recognition solution that can be applied to general cameras.

iBeta is an independent testing agency certified by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology, a laboratory that tests various software functions and verifies their performance in accordance with international standards. iBeta’s verification testing is the only way for facial recognition software companies around the world to objectively prove their technology. Through this verification, Alchera obtained facial recognition solution certification that complies with the International Organization for Standardization ISO/IEC 30107-3 standards.

The test of Alchera’s facial recognition solution was conducted using a camera with typical specifications, and it detected fake faces disguised as other people with a 100% probability. Alchera is the first in Korea to certify a ‘passive method’ solution that automatically detects a person’s face by applying it to a general camera rather than a ‘depth camera’ without requiring specific actions such as adjusting the face position.

Alchera plans to expand opportunities to expand the global market for its facial recognition solutions through this international standard certification. As non-face-to-face contact is becoming routine around the world after the coronavirus, the need for identity verification solutions is growing in various areas such as preventing ID theft in the financial sector, access control for companies and institutions, and security automation. As such, this technology verification is an important step to expand business partners. We expect it to be competitive. In fact, Alchera is forming an identity verification business partnership using its artificial intelligence facial recognition technology with domestic banks, securities companies, insurance companies, and public institutions such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and government offices.

Young-gyu Hwang, CEO of Alchera, said, “Passing the internationally recognized iBeta software function test verifies Alchera’s advanced artificial intelligence technology competitiveness through active construction of learning data and actual commercialization,” adding, “ “As it is a solution, companies and organizations with needs for facial recognition and identity verification will be able to apply our service more efficiently and economically.”
