Kakao announced that its subsidiary ‘Linkage Lab’ was selected as a ‘Family-Friendly Certification’ by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and a ‘Leisure-Friendly Certification’ by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Linkage Lab is a subsidiary-type standard workplace for the disabled established by Kakao in 2016, and is creating social value through job creation and job development and expansion for the disabled. 64% of all employees are severely and mildly disabled, and they perform tasks such as service operation, accessibility, in-house cafe, and health keeper (masseur for the visually impaired).

The ‘Family-Friendly Certification’ is a system that the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family reviews and grants certification to companies and organizations that take the lead in creating a family-friendly work culture through systems such as support for childbirth, raising and education, and flexible working. It is a system that supports leisure time, costs, programs, and facilities so that workers can harmoniously balance work and leisure life, and selects and certifies companies that operate these in an exemplary manner.

Linkage Lab operates a staggered work schedule and allows employees to work from home to balance work and family life. In addition, we are conducting events to invite employees and their families, support programs for pregnant women, support for congratulations and condolences, shortened work hours during holidays, and support for homecoming expenses.

In addition, we are creating a culture of free vacation use through an annual leave use promotion system, operating a sabbatical leave system that grants 15 days of vacation after 3 years of service, and providing self-growth points to actively encourage employees to take enough rest. To ensure the health of our employees, we provide annual comprehensive health checkups and same-day paid vacations, and we also support group accident insurance subscriptions and flu vaccinations.

Linkage Lab received a presidential commendation at the ‘2018 Disabled Employment Promotion Conference’ in recognition of its contribution to promoting employment of the disabled in 2018. The Disabled Employment Promotion Competition is hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and organized by the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, and is an event to reward business owners who have contributed to the promotion of employment of the disabled, exemplary disabled workers, and those who have contributed to the employment of the disabled.

Daeyoung Park, CEO of Linkage Lab, said, “We are trying to establish various systems to increase work efficiency through rest and refresh, and to maintain a balance between personal life and work,” adding, “We will continue to provide opinions for executives and employees to balance work and family.” “We plan to create a healthy organizational culture unique to Linkage Lab by listening to them and actively reflecting on them,” he said.
