– Started delivery service on Kakao T app, expanded object movement service area through platform
– Future business cooperation through advancement of courier services, such as utilizing autonomous driving and unmanned robot technology and establishing a courier transportation management system
– Reviewing new business development beyond the delivery area, such as last-mile transportation
Kakao Mobility (CEO Ryu Geung-seon) announced on the 12th that it had joined hands with Hanjin Co., Ltd. (CEO Noh Sam-seok) and signed a ‘business agreement to promote new platform-based businesses.’
This agreement combines Kakao Mobility’s mobility-related big data and platform operation know-how with Hanjin’s logistics assets and network operation experience to operate delivery services based on the ‘Kakao T’ platform as well as develop new future businesses that enable long-term collaboration. The goal is to do this.
As the first step, Kakao T, which has 28 million users and 30,000 corporate members, started a beta delivery service on June 30th. Starting from this agreement, the plan is to launch the service in earnest and expand user contact points.
It also improves the convenience of using the service. Anyone who subscribes to the Kakao T app can handle everything from delivery, picking up items, checking delivery status, and making automatic payments on one platform at a time. The single price is 4,000 won only for the transportation of small parcels (weighing less than 20kg and measuring less than 140cm in total width, length, and height), making it possible to use the courier service at a more reasonable price than general personal courier service.
We will also cooperate in future business areas to enhance delivery service operations. ▲Development of delivery vehicle infrastructure and system based on autonomous driving technology to increase work efficiency of courier workers during trunk and home delivery transportation ▲Establishment of a courier transportation management system using courier data containing drivers’ operation information and AI technology ▲Building with attached parking lot We are also jointly promoting a plan to implement delivery within buildings using unmanned robots.
In addition, by combining Kakao Mobility’s mobility technology and Hanjin Co., Ltd.’s logistics operation know-how, we plan to review opportunities for cooperation in last-mile transportation, which is considered a major future strategy in the transportation industry.
Ryu Geung-seon, CEO of Kakao Mobility, said, “The agreement with Hanjin Co., Ltd., which has contributed to the innovation of transportation services in daily life by introducing Korea’s first personal delivery brand, will serve as a stepping stone for the evolution of the object movement service area being introduced on the Kakao T platform.” He said, “We will work to ensure that the delivery service becomes a part of daily life through the ‘Kakao T’ app.”
