Gyeonggi Province announced on the 21st that it will utilize the infrastructure of ‘Pangyo Techno Valley’ to promote a project that will allow products made by companies in the artificial intelligence (AI) field to be applied to actual sites. The ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology Verification Testbed Linkage Demonstration Support Project’, which will be promoted starting this year, is a project that supports companies in the AI field to quickly verify and commercialize innovative products and services by utilizing the infrastructure owned by Pangyo Techno Valley. This project is being promoted after Pangyo Techno Valley, Gyeonggi-do, was selected as the grand prize winner of the ‘AI Technology Demonstration Test Bed Creation Project’ held by the Ministry of Science and ICT and managed by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency in April last year. Companies wishing to participate must select one task out of six tasks (REP) and one free task proposed by the province, and write a business plan containing an empirical application plan using technology and products for their company by August 20. You can submit it online through Biz. Targets of support are small, medium-sized, and large companies capable of demonstrating artificial intelligence technology in the fields of mobility, daily convenience, and disaster safety. During the project period, companies carrying out AI-related demonstration projects for other governments, local governments, and public institutions are not permitted to participate. The six tasks proposed by the province are crosswalk pedestrian safety service, smart safe driving evaluation system, health management system, situational awareness and user-responsive display, abnormal behavior surveillance, and artificial intelligence-based river and reservoir monitoring and decision-making system. For free projects, you can freely propose technology verification application methods within the fields of mobility, convenience of living, and disaster safety. The selected companies will pursue verification using the infrastructure created in the Pangyo Techno Valley area, and for this purpose, a total of KRW 3.8 billion will be supported, ranging from KRW 300 million to a maximum of KRW 700 million for each project. Participating companies only need to pay 25% of the total demonstration project cost. The verification support period is until April of next year, and if it is selected as an excellent service through evaluation after 8 months of verification, support is planned to be provided up to 2023. Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province and the Ministry of Science and Technology will invest a total of KRW 39 billion by 2023, including KRW 16.5 billion this year, to create an ‘AI technology verification test bed’ in the Pangyo area to support citizen-participatory technology verification, evaluation and verification of technology, and professional test evaluation and certification. I plan to do it.
