Naver Labs announced on the 19th that it will expand the world’s first 5G ‘brainless’ robot technology to Naver’s second headquarters building, which will be completed at the end of the year.
To this end, Naver Labs received permission to relocate the 5G experiment station, which had been approved for robot research purposes in its existing office, to the second building.
Naver Labs plans to gradually advance its technology, starting with controlling multiple robots within a large space called the second office building by linking 5G to the cloud-based robot control system (ARCAI-Robot-Cloud).
Naver Labs participated in ‘CES’, the world’s largest home appliance exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA in 2019 and demonstrated the world’s first 5G brainless robot technology. Brainless robots do not have a high-performance processing device built in, but are controlled through a communication network.
Seok Sang-ok, CEO of Naver Labs, said, “Naver’s second headquarters, where cutting-edge technologies are concentrated, will be an experimental space that will showcase the infinite potential of robots, 5G, cloud, and artificial intelligence,” adding, “Even the 5G specialized network that will be supplied through institutional preparations in the future.” “Once applied, we expect that the foundation to lead smart building and digital twin technology will become more solid.”
The government announced that it would supply 5G specialized network frequencies starting in November. Once a 5G specialized network is introduced, general companies or organizations, even if they are not mobile carriers, can build a separate 5G network in a limited space such as a specific building.
