SeedN Co., Ltd. (CEO Hyun-woong Choi), an Internet of Things (IoT)-based energy control solution company, announced on the 2nd that it had attracted a total of 500 million won in pre-Series A investment from Kakao Ventures on the 4th of last month.

Seed& is a company that developed ‘Leaf’, an artificial intelligence (AI) smart thermostat. Leaf consists of an IoT smart device and a mobile app that allows users to remotely control their heating and air conditioner. Since it can be applied to existing air conditioners, contracts have already been signed with a number of public institutions and companies, and manned and unmanned franchise stores and affiliated stores are also showing interest.

Leaf analyzes various data such as real-time weather and indoor temperature and humidity information using AI technology, predicts energy demand for each space, and adjusts the temperature to an appropriate temperature. In addition, the efficiency of air conditioner operation is increased by utilizing the schedule setting function for each day of the week and the timer function. This function eliminates the inconvenience of having to manually visit the site and control the temperature, and is very effective in places where energy is usually wasted.

Seed& CEO Choi Hyun-woong said, “Just by solving the problem of air conditioning in public places such as stores and offices being neglected because there is no one to manage it, it is possible to reduce heating and cooling energy by more than 10% compared to the existing amount.” He added, “With this investment from Kakao Ventures, “It will be reborn as a building energy operation management platform,” he said.

SeedN is preparing to grow into a full-fledged building energy operation management platform company this year. In particular, we plan to develop services to meet the recently increasing demand for non-face-to-face remote control.

Meanwhile, SeedN was selected for the 2021 Startup Leap Package Support Project of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ Startup Promotion Agency and is receiving specialized customized support, including commercialization support and mentoring, from the Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center, the host organization.
