Krafton (CEO Kim Chang-han) invested a total of $6 million (approximately KRW 7.1 billion) in the Middle East mobile game publisher ‘Tamathem Games’.
Krafton was the lead investor in Tamatem Games’ Series B round, leading a total investment of approximately $11 million (approximately KRW 13 billion). In addition to Krafton, companies such as Venture Souq and Endeavor Catalyst participated in the investment.
Founded in 2013, Tamatem Games is one of the top three mobile game publishers in the Middle East. Tamatem Games offers a variety of Arabic mobile games with the goal of entertaining users in the MENA (Arabic-speaking, Middle East and North Africa) markets. To date, we have published more than 50 mobile games, generated more than 100 million downloads, and have secured 1 million monthly active users (MAU).
Starting with India, Krafton is expanding its business opportunities into new gaming markets such as the Middle East and Africa. We are expanding our presence in the Indian market through various activities to develop the local industry, such as establishing an Indian corporation, making large-scale investments, and creating an e-sports environment. This time, we have taken a step closer to targeting the Arab market by leading the investment of mobile game publisher ‘Tamathem Games’.
Krafton said, “With the goal of providing the best experience to MENA users, we are closely collaborating with Middle Eastern publisher Tamatem Games on social media, streamers, marketing, etc. from preparation for the release of Battlegrounds: New State to the present.” “We highly value the potential of the MENA region and plan to continue investing in the media and entertainment sectors,” he said.
