ALFA LAVAL, a Swedish shipbuilding equipment company, will participate in the ’23rd International Shipbuilding and Offshore Industry Exhibition (KORMARINE 2023)’ held at BEXCO in Busan for four days from Tuesday, October 24 to Friday, October 27. He announced that he participated.

At this exhibition, Alfa Laval presented solutions preparing for a sustainable future under the theme ‘Together for sustainable shipping’. From new fuel solutions, innovation and efficiency for fuel saving to service connectivity, we announced various changes based on close cooperation with customers and related partners.

In particular, Alfa Laval introduced a variety of fuel solutions, including methanol steam boilers. Recently, the company attracted a lot of attention by expanding and announcing its product line of alternative fuel solutions by adding the Aalborg methanol-fired boiler, which can be used in any fuel type.

An official said, “This is the first time a methanol steam boiler is installed on a ship, and it will be an important milestone for the shipping industry.” He added, “Designed with decarbonization and fuel conversion in mind, the Allberg boiler solution is suitable for low-sulfur fuel, biofuel, and LNG ( It is designed to be compatible with fuels to reduce carbon emissions, including methanol, in addition to liquefied natural gas. “The existing burner and boiler pressure parts can be flexibly adjusted as needed,” he emphasized.

Starting in 2021, Alfa Laval has been testing and inspecting boilers using methanol at the Alfa Laval Test Center in Olberg, Denmark. In addition, in November of the same year, it received certification for methanol boiler operation from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).

“We are ready to supply methanol boiler solutions to shipping companies and are leading the transition to boilers for alternative fuels across the maritime industry,” said an official. “We will support sustainable transportation and reduce current and future emissions, including methanol.” To prepare for the fuel, we prepared an Alfa Laval boiler solution. “We are very pleased to support our customers in their fuel transition to methanol-fired boilers.”

In addition, at this exhibition, Alfa Laval also introduced StormGeo’s solutions, which it acquired in 2021 to strengthen its capabilities and efficiently operate marine industry digital services. With its climate change and digitalization capabilities, StormGeo is part of the UN Global Compact’s ocean management coalition and has offices in 16 countries, including eight 24/7 global operations centers. Alfa Laval introduced StormGeo’s Digital Tool for CII and EU ETS, and revealed various software needed by shipping companies through program demos and consulting.

In addition, the wind-powered Oceanbird, fluidic air lubrication OceanGlide, innovative energy efficiency equipment E-Powerpack, and desalination equipment Aqua Blue E2 were introduced.

Meanwhile, KORMARINE 2023, co-hosted by Busan City, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Plant Association, Korea Shipbuilding and Marine Equipment Industry Cooperative, Lead K Fairs Co., Ltd. and BEXCO, will feature domestic and overseas shipbuilding, offshore plant, Cutting-edge equipment and new technologies in marine energy were showcased.
