It was found that small and medium-sized businesses in the Gwangju area raised purchase counseling results of 11 billion won at the ’14 ICSB World Congress’ held from the 2023th to the 2023th of last month.
The Gwangju Metropolitan City Tourism Organization announced that it had successfully completed the ‘Biz Networking Program’ held as a side event at the World Congress held under the theme of ‘Entrepreneurship for Humanity and Peace’.
The Biz Networking Program, which was prepared to support market development of local companies and promote their main products, was held from the 12th to the 13th with a large number of companies related to major industries in Gwangju participating. The program consisted of △Business Showcase △Startup Meetup △Global Export Consultation △SME Purchase Consultation.
In the business showcase where 13 institutions and 55 companies participated, Samsung Electronics’ C-Lab Outside selected companies Gamseongtech, Intflow, and Clicka also participated and showed off their new technologies. A total of 746 visitors visited the showcase site and watched the technological prowess of local companies.
13 overseas venture capital (VC) and buyers participated in the startup meetup and global export consultation, and conducted export consultations with officials from 25 domestic companies. As a result, more than 70 consultations were conducted, and the estimated amount of consultation and contract promotion was calculated to reach 575 dollars (approximately KRW 1,500 billion).
A total of 1 consultations were conducted at the ‘Purchasing Consultation for Large and Small Businesses’, which was held one-on-one through pre-matching between SMEs and buyers (conglomerates, public institutions, large distributors, etc.), and purchase consultations worth KRW 1 billion were conducted. With the amount of consultations with buyers from local companies alone exceeding 193 billion won, this world competition is being evaluated as contributing to promoting the technology of small and medium-sized businesses in Gwangju to the world.
An official from the Gwangju Metropolitan City Tourism Organization said, “There were many overseas buyers who were very interested in promising local companies and actively consulted.” We plan to support market development,” he said.
Meanwhile, the ‘2023 ICSB World Convention’ was co-hosted by Gwangju Metropolitan City and the International Council for Small Business, and opened on the 11th. The ICSB World Congress, which is held annually by ICSB in capitals around the world, was held in Gwangju this year, and is the first to be held in Korea in 2009 years, following Seoul in 14.
About 37 people from 700 countries, including industry and academia small and medium-sized business experts, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and students, took part in this world conference under the theme of ‘Entrepreneurship for Humanity and Peace’. In addition, active discussions on entrepreneurship took place through academic programs such as the ‘K-Entrepreneurship Global Forum’, WE (WomEnprenuers), and YE (Youth Entrepreneurship).
