Autowells Co., Ltd. (CEO Geon-ho Kwak) participated in ‘MEDI EXPO KOREA 6’ held at EXCO in Daegu for 30 days from Friday, June 7th to Sunday, July 2nd.
Autowells is a healthcare platform service company that measures multiple biological signals using a non-constrained, non-perceptive piezoelectric sensor (Electro-mechanical Film Sensor) based on ballistocardiogram (BCG).
We are building and servicing a system that can measure various biological signals through heartbeat analysis by simply sitting or lying down without the need to attach any patches to the body.
A piezoelectric sensor is a device that measures changes in force, such as pressure, acceleration, and temperature changes, by converting them into electric charges. Autowells’ system measures biosignals by analyzing the user’s cardiac trajectory by attaching a very sensitive piezoelectric sensor to a chair or bed.
When a patch connected to a device is attached to the body of a person being measured, the person is aware that the measurement is being performed and at the same time their movement is restricted. In other words, one is placed in a state of awareness and restraint. However, using AutoWells’ system, you can obtain accurate biosignal data without that need.
One of the serious social problems in many countries, including Korea, is population aging. In particular, no clear solution has been found for the problem of lonely deaths among the elderly population.
AutoWells focuses on this very area. If the system is distributed and managed to the elderly population belonging to the poor among various social classes, their vital signs can be checked even while they sleep, preventing the misfortune of dying alone or being neglected for a long time after death.
Of course, it is true that there are many issues that must be resolved first, such as permission for telemedicine and legal restrictions on local governments’ own communication networks. However, as smart cities based on artificial intelligence are pursued and realized, individuals can check various biometric data at any time, receive periodic reports on their health status based on this, and receive a doctor’s opinion without going to the hospital when something goes wrong. CEO Kwak Geon-ho was confident that if we could receive medical treatment or telemedicine, our quality of life would improve significantly.
