Visual Research Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Chang-won) will participate in ‘KOBA 5 (16st International Broadcasting, Media, Sound and Lighting Exhibition)’ held at COEX in Seoul from Tuesday, May 19th to Friday, May 2023th. The company announced that it will introduce three new products of its graphics system.

‘Karism3’, which Visual Research is introducing at this exhibition, is a real-time 3D graphics system mainly used in election vote counting broadcasts, economic broadcasts that require accuracy, sports broadcasts, and weather news. With an interface optimized for 3D space editing, it provides an optimal production environment for designers and a proven operating environment for engineers with technical know-how and stability accumulated over many years.

The company explains that the 3D graphic content produced through this realizes the best viewing experience with improved expression and visual effects comparable to rendering-based systems.

‘Tomado3’, which is also being introduced, is the third product in the ‘Tomado’ series, a text graphics system for broadcasting that has been actively used in the broadcasting industry for the past 20 years. In line with the rapidly changing broadcast production environment, it has production and transmission functions compatible with 4K and 8K environments, and supports Native HDR, boasting industry-leading technical support. In particular, it has a UI that provides excellent work convenience and efficiency, and also has functions to prevent broadcasting accidents.

The ultra-high-resolution wide wall graphics system ‘Tomado Studio’ provides content with image quality optimized for display characteristics based on proven graphics production solutions and high-performance hardware systems. It supports ultra-high resolution video playback of up to 9,600 pixels to 15,360 pixels in width, allowing scene creation and real-time editing.

It also has functions for free and colorful production. PIP is supported on the video wall display, allowing for free placement, and external video input can also be used. Furthermore, Tomado Studio is considered a system optimized for the broadcasting environment by providing an intuitive transmission-specific interface to prevent accidents that may occur during live broadcasts and supporting various standard transmission specifications for broadcasting.

A Visual Research official said, “By introducing a more powerful broadcast graphics solution at this exhibition, we plan to publicize our efforts and achievements in constantly seeking development and technological improvement in the related industry.”

Meanwhile, the KOBA exhibition, co-hosted by Korea E&X and the Korea Broadcasting Engineers Association, was held for the first time in 1991 to improve domestic broadcasting culture and develop the media, sound, and lighting industries, and is celebrating its 31st anniversary this year. KOBA 2023, held at COEX Halls A, C, and D, presents next-generation broadcasting services and the future of the media, sound, and lighting industries. In particular, during the exhibition period, it provides an opportunity to acquire professional information related to broadcasting and sound through the International Broadcasting Technology Conference hosted by the Korea Broadcasting Engineers Association and the sound-related professional technology seminar hosted by the Korea Sound Artists Association and the Acoustical Society of Korea.
