The ‘2023 Seoul Mobility Show 2023’ is hosted by the Seoul Mobility Show Organizing Committee (Chairman Kang Nam-hoon and Chairman of the Korea Automobile Industry Association, hereinafter referred to as the Organizing Committee) and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Environment, and Goyang Special City. The 4 Seoul Mobility Show, which will be held for 9 days until Sunday, April 2023, will be held with the participation of 3 companies and organizations from 12 countries around the world in three categories: Hardware, Software, and Service. .
First of all, the hardware sector is divided into ▲Auto Maker ▲Auto Parts ▲New Mobility ▲Tuning/Camping/Leisure, and a total of 65 companies are participating. Among these, in the automaker field, 12 domestic and imported car brands will participate, unveiling a total of 8 new cars, including 4 World Premieres, 9 Asia Premieres, and 21 Korea Premieres, and 10 types of concept cars will also be exhibited. In the new mobility field, a total of nine companies will participate and showcase future mobility such as robotics, urban air transportation (UAM), and personal air vehicles (PAV).
In the software sector, which is divided into ▲Mobility Tech ▲Mobility Institute ▲Mobility Incubating, a total of 50 companies and organizations will set up booths. Next, a total of 33 companies and institutions will participate in the service sector, and a total of 15 companies and institutions will set up booths in other sectors led by overseas government agencies, universities, and associations.
Kwan-seok Yoon, Chairman of the National Assembly Trade, Industry, Energy, Small and Medium Venture Business Committee, who attended the opening ceremony on the 31st, said in his congratulatory speech, “The automobile industry, which plays a key role in the domestic economy and job creation, is in the midst of a huge change called ‘mobility.’” “The era of engines led by developed countries is coming to an end, and the future mobility industry, represented by connectivity, autonomous driving, sharing, and electrification, will be a time of equal opportunities and challenges for the world, including Korea,” he said.
However, the tasks at hand are not easy. The world is competitively providing policy support, with the United States supporting up to a 30% tax credit for investment in electric vehicle production facilities through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and the EU also pushing for the introduction of the Core Raw Materials Act and the Carbon Neutral Industry Act. .
Chairman Kwan-Seok Yoon said, “I attended CES 2023 held in Las Vegas, USA at the beginning of this year and saw in person an exhibition based on amazing technological developments. Among them, we have confirmed that the development of mobility is at a revolutionary level to the point where we spend a lot of time on the mobility section,” he said. “Fortunately, future vehicles such as electric vehicles are included in the recent national high-tech industry development strategy, and it was passed through the National Assembly’s non-subcommittee and tax subcommittee to the plenary session.” He added, “It is very meaningful and encouraging that future vehicle transportation methods such as electric vehicles and autonomous vehicles are included in the target of strengthening tax support in the amendment to the Restriction of Special Taxation Act.”
Chairman Yoon continued, “Continued efforts are needed regarding whether to support electric vehicle production facilities, which are the core of future vehicles, as the target of support will be determined through the future revision of subordinate laws.” He added, “The National Assembly also lacks support compared to major overseas countries.” Considering this, we will do our best to maintain the competitiveness of our country’s automobile industry and secure its role as a global electric vehicle production hub while strengthening the competitiveness of the future automobile market.”
Meanwhile, the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show will begin with a press day on March 1th (Thursday) at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 3 in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do under the theme of ‘Sustainable·Connected·Mobility (Sustainable·Connected·Mobility)’ and end on April 30th ( It will be held until Sunday.
