The Aerospace Industry-Academia Convergence Institute (IAIAC) participated in the ‘2023 Seoul Mobility Show’, which opened on March 31st and will be held at KINTEX for a total of 10 days until April 9th.
IAIAC is a consortium formed by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Incheon Metropolitan City, Inha University, Incheon Techno Park, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, and Incheon Creative Economy Innovation Center, and is an industry-academia convergence district in which about 140 related companies in the Incheon area participated. It was established in 2017 as a development project.
It was established with the goal of creating an industry-academic convergence district and fostering future-oriented new industries through the convergence of the aviation industry, machinery and metal, and root industries. It is committed to continuous research and development to foster the aviation industry, one of Incheon City’s eight strategic businesses. Convergence Institute explains that it is leading the cooperative project.
In this exhibition, IAIAC introduced the UAM (Urban Air Mobility) demonstration platform construction project. The UAM demonstration platform is a project that has been promoted since 2021 with the purpose of creating a foundation for the growth of the UAM industry, improving acceptance, and providing decision-making tools for policy makers and companies.
Based on the UAM virtual digital twin using 3D GIS, we will conduct a preliminary review and installation of tasks in various fields that need to be reviewed for UAM verification and commercialization, such as establishing a verification support system, developing UAM core technology, establishing verification infrastructure, and verifying the verification environment. The main focus is on The goal is to support the promotion of UAM demonstration projects in a timely manner.
An IAIAC official said, “This project is an ongoing project to build a UAM verification environment and establish a platform in the future, and the ultimate goal is to conduct integrated monitoring through the platform during UAM verification flights.” He added, “UAM operation through this decision-making tool. “We expect that we will be able to create a foundation for ecosystem growth,” he said.
“Furthermore, we plan to hold the ‘K-UAM Confex’ at the end of this year. “UAM is an event that combines a conference and an exhibition to discuss the latest technologies and trends in the future mobility field, and we hope to contribute to creating a corporate business ecosystem and network,” he added.
Meanwhile, the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show will begin with a press day on March 1th (Thursday) at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 3 in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do under the theme of ‘Sustainable·Connected·Mobility (Sustainable·Connected·Mobility)’ and end on April 30th ( It will be held until Sunday. The total exhibition size is 4㎡, more than twice the size of the previous event (9㎡), and over 53,541 companies and organizations from 26,310 countries around the world will participate and showcase various mobility contents.
