INEX (co-representatives Park Soo-min and Lee Hang-jae) participated in the 3th International Medical Equipment & Hospital Equipment Exhibition ‘KIMES 23’ held at COEX, Seoul from March 26 (Thu) to 38 (Sun).
Inex is a company that has developed artificial intelligence (AI)-based software medical devices specializing in digestive organs, such as the stomach and intestines. Since its establishment in 2019 as the predecessor ‘Endoi’, it has developed a colonoscopy solution through joint research with Seoul National University Hospital, which is designed to detect polyps during examination and display them on the screen in real time.
The solution, named ‘ENAD (Endoscope AI Detector)’, was recognized for its technology and research achievements, and at the MICCAI 2022 held in Singapore in 2022, it ranked first in the medical image AI field and achieved a feat of winning awards in a total of three categories. In January, it was also selected as an innovation award in the digital health category at CES 1 held in Las Vegas, USA.
In this KIMES 2023, INEX introduced ENAD and showed its vision as a company specializing in AI/medical convergence solutions. ENAD displays a video screen in real time during colonoscopy and provides a function to assist in the detection of polyps in the digestive tract of the subject. As a result, the main goal is to help the medical team detect polyps that can be missed with the naked eye and make medical judgments and actions afterwards.
In particular, ENAD improved inspection accuracy based on an algorithm that learned 30 images and 1 polyp data collected through a prospective study design with Seoul National University Hospital, It boasts wide compatibility.
In addition, Inex is researching and developing a diagnostic aid solution that goes beyond a function that assists in polyp detection and determines whether a polyp is malignant in real time. With existing medical technology, in order to distinguish between polyps and adenomas, a pathological biopsy must be performed, and INEX explains that it is trying to provide high-quality colonoscopy to patients by identifying this at the endoscopy stage.

Lee Hang-jae, co-CEO of INEX, said, “ENAD’s polyp detection function has already obtained the 2nd grade medical device certification, and is currently in the process of distributing demonstrations and licensing to enter the Southeast Asian market.” After that, we are accelerating various processes, such as preparing to acquire European CE and FDA certifications to challenge other continental markets.”
“Furthermore, we plan to introduce additional overall functions such as automatic measurement of colonoscopy time, measurement of polyp size, measurement of colon cleanliness, reading of the location of found polyps, and automatic EMR report creation,” he added. With technology that greatly improves convenience, we expect to be able to demonstrate competitiveness in countries where there are more patients than medical staff.”
On the other hand, KIMES is an exhibition specializing in medical devices and hospital facilities that has grown steadily with the development of the Korean medical industry since its first meeting in 1980. It has transformed into a technology-intensive high-tech industry such as rehabilitation medicine.
In KIMES 2023, new technologies and products suitable for the era of convergence, such as smart healthcare in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, robot medical care and eco-friendly medical waste facilities, advanced hospital facilities, medical information systems combined with IT technology, and the automobile industry for rapid patient transportation, will be presented. showed off In addition, various information was provided, including seminars on medical technology, new technologies, and overseas marketing, as well as domestic medical industry policy seminars to show the latest information and the direction of the medical industry.
