SKC announced on the 1th that it will participate in ‘CES 5’, the world’s largest home appliance and IT exhibition, which will open in Las Vegas, USA for a total of 8 days from January 4th (Thursday) to January 2023th (Sunday, local time) next year.

At this CES, SKC plans to unveil a large number of products that represent its innovation direction as a ‘global ESG (environmental, social, and governance) material solution company.’ SKC explains that this will provide a preview of future innovations in the secondary battery, semiconductor, and eco-friendly materials industries.

SKC exhibits semiconductor glass substrates for high-performance computing (HPC), copper foil for secondary batteries, silicon cathode materials, waste plastic recycling solutions, eco-friendly alternative plastic materials ‘PBAT’ and Rymex at the SK exhibition hall jointly operated with seven affiliates within the SK Group. presents. The SK exhibition hall, with the theme of ‘Action (Together, further, moving toward a carbon-free future)’, is planned to be located in the center of the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC).

The semiconductor glass substrate, which will be revealed to the public for the first time, will be located in the ‘Green Digital Solutions’ area of the SK exhibition hall. SKC is pursuing commercialization for the first time in the world by starting construction of a mass production plant last month through its investment company Absolix. It is a futuristic material that significantly increases data processing speed and power efficiency, and is considered a ‘game changer’ in the semiconductor packaging field. It is only a quarter of the thickness of existing plastic substrates and has a smooth surface that can respond to the miniaturization of packaging with the naked eye. You can.

Copper foil for secondary batteries, which was introduced at ‘CES 2022’ held earlier this year and attracted the attention of visitors, will be displayed in the ‘Eco-friendly mobility’ area alongside silicon anode materials. SK Nexilis, an investment company in SKC’s copper foil business, possesses a super-gap technology that mass-produces the world’s thinnest 4㎛ (micrometer) thick, widest (1.4m) and longest (77km) copper foil products. In addition, through excellent recipe technology and smart factories, we produce products with customized physical properties that can respond to various demands, such as ultra-high-strength copper foil and high-elongation copper foil.

SK nexilis copper foil products also recently obtained the ‘Product Carbon Footprint’ certification from The Carbon Trust, a British eco-friendly certification agency. Recognized for its efforts to reduce carbon from raw materials to pre-manufacturing processes and waste disposal, it has clearly demonstrated its product identity as an eco-friendly material along with its super-gap technology.

Silicon anode materials, which are scheduled to begin construction of mass production facilities next year, will also be unveiled in person. Silicon anode material is a material that significantly improves battery performance by increasing the charging speed and driving distance of secondary batteries. Currently, it is in the early stages of market expansion due to problems related to volume expansion during charging and discharging.

SKC invested in Nexeon, a British technology company, and secured exclusive business rights for new technologies that combine the advantages of various engineering methods, thereby improving market competitiveness through additional research and development. As part of this, SKC plans to supply silicon anode material and high-strength, high-strength copper foil to the market as a ‘secondary battery anode solution’.

SKC’s eco-friendly materials, biodegradable PBAT and Lymex, will each be showcased in the outdoor ‘Food Truck Zone’ in physical applications such as containers and forks used to taste sustainable food invested by SK Group, and vouchers for exchanging food. . Through this, you can directly experience the excellent usability of SKC’s biodegradable materials.

In addition, SKC’s waste plastic recycling solution, which pyrolyzes plastic waste generated in everyday life and recycles it into resources, will be introduced through a video in the ‘Waste Recycling’ area.

“At CES 2023, we will widely publicize SKC’s new identity as a ‘global ESG material solutions company’ and our commitment to achieving ‘2040 net zero greenhouse gases’ through carbon reduction,” said Na Yoon-ah, Vice President and Head of SKC’s SV Division. “We will continue to discover new ESG material businesses through steady technology development,” he said.

Meanwhile, ‘CES’, the world’s largest IT exhibition, is an exhibition where you can understand the trends of the global home appliance industry at a glance. Hosted by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), it is held every January in Las Vegas, USA. AVING News, which has covered CES for 1 consecutive years, has reported CES news around the world every year since 17, and has been selected as the ‘BEST OF CES’, which selects the best innovative products and technologies, and the ‘BEST OF’, which selects domestic innovative companies. ‘MADE IN KOREA’ was held. In addition, CES on-site issues were vividly conveyed through ‘AVING LIVE’.
