UAM traffic management platform presented by LGU+ at the 2023 Drone Show Korea | Filming – AVING NEWS
LG U+ participated in the ‘2 Drone Show Korea 23’ held at BEXCO, Busan from February 25 (Thu) to 2023 (Sat) with the ‘UAM Future Team’ consortium.
UAM Future Team is a consortium formed through cooperation between LG U+, GS E&C, Kakao Mobility, and Pablo Airlines. At this Drone Show Korea, they set up an exhibition booth with an area of 320㎡, the largest among participating companies, and introduced the future vision of UAM services envisioned by the UAM Future Team and the next-generation urban transportation paradigm to dominate the Korean UAM market.
The exhibition hall includes the consortium joint hall, as well as GS E&C’s eco-friendly, modular, smart Vertiport (Vertiport) vision, LG U+’s UAM traffic management system, Kakao Mobility’s multi-modal mobility vision, and Pablo Airlines. It consists of five spaces where you can experience the UAM integrated flight control system.
LG U+ has been participating in the ‘K-UAM Grand Challenge’ demonstration project hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport since May of last year, and signed a business agreement with Busan Metropolitan City in July of last year to create a UAM ecosystem. In addition, last month, it decided to cooperate with Seoul Transportation Corporation to create a complex transfer center, and this month, it decided to cooperate with UAM aircraft startup ‘Plana’ for joint research and development of communication-based UAM data transmission technology, and is preparing for early commercialization of UAM.
In particular, within the UAM Future Team consortium, LG Uplus is in charge of building a flight planning system that processes flight plans received from operators and creates routes by calculating departure and arrival vertiports, location, altitude, speed, and time. After confirming whether the corridor is available, it is reviewed whether the flight information of the predicted route, such as weather, airspace, and obstacles, overlaps with other flight plans. This makes the final decision to approve, revise or reject the flight plan.
In addition, it manages urban air traffic with real-time flight information, and such services are provided based on data received from each aircraft. It is to provide information that can predict and avoid the possibility of collision between two or more aircraft, ground obstacles, and other flying objects. .
LG Uplus is also in charge of quality management of LTE and 5G communications in the aircraft operating area. It maintains the optimal condition based on the 3D communication map, monitors the aircraft communication situation in real time, and transmits and receives necessary information. In addition, it provides a communication environment where passengers can use the Internet on board, and prepares an ADS-B system to prevent failures such as communication disruptions.
Accordingly, LG U+ exhibited a traffic management platform in the form of augmented reality (AR) content that provides UAM flight information sharing, traffic flow management, flight plan approval, and route departure monitoring services at this exhibition. Visitors can experience real-time communication with each other through AR glasses from the perspective of the pilot and the controller. For example, a virtual 3D aerial view image of the corridor is shown in AR so that the pilot does not leave the corridor, and a control image is displayed so that the pilot can immediately respond to severe weather or unexpected situations.
An official from LG U+ said, “Since urban air mobility is considered an innovative future industry that will shift the paradigm of the future mobility industry, we will contribute to the early commercialization of UAM with our consortium partners.”
Meanwhile, the exhibition items of the 2023 Drone Show Korea, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of National Defense, and Busan Metropolitan City, and organized by BEXCO and the Korea Unmanned Aerial System Association are as follows. △Manufacturing (drone, military, UAM/AAM, surveying, mapping, firefighting, station, unmanned robot, leisure, broadcasting) △Utilizing industry (photography, control, spatial information, logistics, disaster management, security, reconnaissance, construction, deep sea exploration) Etc.) △Parts and technology (communication, ground control, autonomous flight, system and S/W technology, fuel cell sensor, motor, battery, etc.) △Service (education, finance, rental, insurance, investment consulting, etc.) △ Institutions (related institutions, associations/organizations, universities)
