TÜV SÜD Korea (CEO Seo Jung-wook) has announced its participation in the ‘H2 MEET 2024’, which will be held at KINTEX in Goyang City from September 25th (Wednesday) to 27th (Friday).
TÜV SÜD, founded in 1866 and headquartered in Munich, is a testing and certification agency that provides services across almost all industrial sectors where safety and quality are needed, from automobiles to toys, electrical and consumer goods, textiles, medical devices, railways, buildings and infrastructure, industrial plants, and machinery.
The services include product testing and certification, inspections, training, technical assessment, management system certification, and technical consulting. For product certification, tests are generally conducted according to relevant international or national standards. TÜV SÜD is divided into INDUSTRY, MOBILITY, and CERTIFICATION. Each accounts for about a third of the company’s total revenue, and all three divisions exceeded one billion euros in 2023.
As of 2023, the company employs over 28,000 staff worldwide and offers independent and neutral professional technical services through over 1,000 offices and laboratories. Last year, global sales rose by 9.6% compared to the previous year, reaching 3.1 billion euros.
In Korea, TÜV SÜD conducts carbon neutrality verification according to the PAS-2060 standard and verifies carbon footprints under ISO 14064 and 14067 standards as a third-party agency.
TÜV SÜD Korea aims to promote its expertise and technology within the hydrogen industry and enhance its role as a reliable partner, ensuring the safety and sustainability of hydrogen energy. Furthermore, the exhibition will explore the latest trends in hydrogen technology and solutions, seek collaboration opportunities within the industry, and contribute to promoting sustainable energy transitions.
TÜV SÜD emphasizes that its experts are equipped to provide quality and safety testing services for hydrogen components, fuel cells, and storage systems. Their testing plans are set according to global standards and specific safety requirements, ensuring that clients’ hydrogen components can enter Korean and international markets immediately.
Additionally, in state-of-the-art hydrogen testing laboratories, TÜV SÜD conducts various tests for industrial, energy, and automotive parts manufacturers. Through its hydrogen components and materials testing laboratory, it can provide reliable assessments of general safety and predict the performance of components over time, significantly enhancing safety by minimizing operational, work, and safety risks for manufacturers and users.
TÜV SÜD emphasizes a customer-centric approach, providing customized testing and certification setups for new and innovative systems while adhering to existing standards. This approach ensures long-term benefits for clients and guarantees high quality and security.
TÜV SÜD supports the development of safe and reliable hydrogen mobility solutions and provides testing and certification services for fuel cell systems, high-pressure hydrogen storage systems, and components. It ensures that hydrogen technologies, products, and components comply with the latest regulations and standards for entry into the global market.
TÜV SÜD’s hydrogen services mainly focus on supporting exports in the Korean market and providing certifications for international standards like ISO and CE. Additionally, it assists Korean companies importing hydrogen-related products from abroad to ensure compliance with Korean regulations. The primary target countries are Germany and France.
TÜV SÜD also offers services to assist Korean companies in complying with the regulations of any country when they aim to expand overseas. Especially for companies aiming to enter resource-rich countries like the Middle East, Chile, and Australia, which focus on green and blue hydrogen production, TÜV SÜD can offer extensive services.
Regarding plans, TÜV SÜD aims to activate linkages between Korean and foreign companies. The hydrogen industry involves complex challenges that a single country like Korea or Germany alone cannot tackle. With the hydrogen sector still growing and technology continuously advancing, the goal is to connect experts from various countries to accelerate the industry’s growth and add value for clients.
