    Kakao announced on the 19th that its webtoon platform ‘Piccoma’ ranked 6th on the most spent app (excluding games) by mobile consumers around the world last year.

    According to the ‘2022 Mobile Status Report’ recently announced by mobile data analysis platform App Annie, Piccoma ranked 6th in the ranking of apps that consumers opened the most wallets in last year’s global mobile market. In the rankings by company, Kakao Piccoma ranked 8th overall. This is a case where a single app was operated only in Japan and ranked in the rankings in a market crowded with global services.

    Piccoma is a platform that provides digital comics and web novels in Japan, as well as popular webtoons from around the world (Korea, Japan, China, the United States, etc.). Piccoma has maintained its top spot since ranking first in global comics app sales in July 2020, and the cumulative number of app downloads has exceeded 30 million.
