    [Pangyo Tech] SMT signs MOU on joint technology development with Russian technical university ‘MPEI’

    SMT Co., Ltd., a solution startup specializing in energy smart metering, signed an ‘MOU on the transfer of original technology using ultrasound and joint development of a thermal energy monitoring system’ with MPEI (Moscow Power Engineering Institute), a Russian national research university, in Moscow, Russia, on the 11th. It was announced on the 23rd.

    SMT Co., Ltd. is currently a company located in the Pangyo Startup Zone, established by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and operated by the Startup Promotion Agency and the Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center. We provide products and services that predict demand through IoT/ICT-based measurement and analysis solutions for efficient energy management.

    This MOU was promoted as part of the ‘Commercialization of Russian Innovative Technology’ project hosted by Gyeonggi Techno Park, and as of 2022, the Russian government announced a government resolution prohibiting cooperation between foreigners and Russian universities, and SMT Co., Ltd. made the MOU on its own. Achieved the conclusion of a contract.

    In the future, SMT Co., Ltd. and MPEI are conducting projects on technology transfer and additional development with three research groups to create practical results, and plan to coordinate the schedule for system advancement and new technology development for thermal energy efficiency management.

    In addition, we mutually agreed to verify the technologies and products developed in MPEI’s local network and test bed in Russia over the next three years. Externally, we will pursue mutual cooperation in the mid- to long-term by conducting joint projects with MPEI when entering the Russian and Eurasian regions. Officials said they agreed to cooperate.
