Smilegate Hope Studio announced on the 31st that it received the 2021 Child Welfare Award (Minister of Health and Welfare Award). In addition to the Social Contribution Award and the Presidential Citation in the game industry development category, Hope Studio also received a government commendation in the category of solving the problem of children in blind spots.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare’s award for children’s welfare is given to those who have contributed to the promotion of child welfare, with the purpose of creating and spreading a social atmosphere for the healthy growth of children under protection. Smilegate explained, “Hope Studio has been recognized for its contribution to solving the problem of children in welfare blind spots, and it is especially meaningful in that it was directly recommended by the Korea Children and Youth Group Home Council, a beneficiary of the foundation.”
Since 2016, Hope Studio has been operating eight Smile Houses with community group homes to protect, heal, and support marginalized children in blind spots to become independent. We are building sustainable solutions by linking private and national resources, while providing diverse experiences and emotional support to children through bonding community activities.
Kwon Yeon-joo, Smilegate Hope Studio Director, said, “I will work harder as I received the award on behalf of the donors, users, and volunteers who work with the Smile House platform. “We will continue to work harder to solve problems for future generations by cooperating with those who are devoted to children at the Smile House site,” he said.
