    [Pangyo Game & Contents] Nexon successfully opens ‘2022 Nexon Developer Conference’

    Nexon (CEO Jeong-hyeon Lee) opened the ‘2022 Nexon Developer Conference (NDC)’, which is called Korea’s largest game industry knowledge sharing platform, online on the 8th.

    The NDC22 lecture, which will be held from the 8th to the 10th, can be viewed freely by anyone without separate registration through the NDC official website and YouTube channel. There are a total of 60 lectures (55 public sessions, 5 private sessions), covering topics in various fields such as metaverse & NFT, programming, data analysis, and career.

    This year, industry workers and related experts will gather to explore the future development direction of games from various perspectives and pass on the technical experience and know-how accumulated during the actual development process.

    First, Nexon COO Daehyun Kang (Chief Operating Officer), who gave a keynote on the theme of ‘Blockchain and the evolution of the virtual world,’ discussed the characteristics of blockchain technology and game design methods appropriate for it, and presented a ‘game that overcomes the physical limitations of the existing virtual world.’ We talked about its potential as an ‘integrated platform’. In addition, the company surprisingly announced the preparation of an NFT-based ecosystem called ‘MapleStory Universe’ using Nexon’s core IP, ‘MapleStory’ IP.

    Daehyun Kang, COO, said, “MapleStory Universe is a space where MapleStory NFTs are shared, and we hope that it will become a form of virtual world evolution where the game and blockchain worlds converge.” He added, “Various blockchain projects around the world will cross each other’s boundaries and converge. “Building a viable ecosystem is what Nexon envisions as an evolved virtual world,” he emphasized.

    In the newly added Metaverse & NFT field, Korea University Professor Kim Seung-ju, a blockchain expert, and Kyunghee University Professor Kim Sang-gyun, a domestic Metaverse authority, will appear as speakers and discuss the direction of game development. In addition, insights gained while conducting related projects at companies such as Nexon Korea’s ‘Project MOD’ and Sunsoon Studio’s ‘SPUM’ are also shared.

    The development experience of recently released or planned new games is also revealed. The developers of ‘Prasia Electric’, ‘Kart Rider: Drift’, Project Magnum’, Shift Up ‘Goddess of Victory: Nike’, and Growing Seed ‘Thy Creature’, which are being developed by Nexon Company, participated as speakers and shared their experiences during the development process. He tells in detail his concerns and attempts.

    In addition, people from major game companies such as NCSoft, Epic Games Korea, Devsisters, Embark Studio, and Wonder People will participate and give lectures ranging from the latest technologies for creating high-quality games to know-how for career growth of talent in the game industry.

    Meanwhile, the ‘Nexon Developer Conference (NDC)’, which started as a private in-house event in 2007 and converted to a public conference in 2011, has achieved a cumulative attendance of over 240,000 and has established itself as a representative venue for sharing game knowledge that promotes mutual growth in the industry. To date, over 1,200 experts have come forward as speakers and given approximately 1,000 lectures, actively sharing game knowledge and experience.
