Papaya (CEO Tae-yeop Kim, Young-jun Jeon), an artificial intelligence (AI) indoor/outdoor location positioning technology startup, provides AI indoor/outdoor location information through the YouTube channel of Pangyo Techno Valley, a global convergence R&D hub cluster centered on global IT, BT, CT, and NT. Positioning technology was introduced.

Startup Papaya was founded in 2013 by a group of key personnel who worked at Korea’s leading map service providers such as Naver, Kakao, and iNavi. By improving the fact that location-based services using GPS are only used outdoors, we have developed a positioning technology that allows location information even indoors.

Existing indoor positioning technology involves installing expensive dedicated equipment in areas where GPS does not work and allowing experts to collect data for indoor positioning. The initial cost is high and the installation time is long, which poses a major barrier to customers using it. There were a lot.

Accordingly, Papaya developed an indoor positioning system so that GPS (Global Positioning System)-based location-based service (LBS) can be used even inside buildings. Wireless signal patterns such as Wi-Fi, communication network signals, and Bluetooth distributed in certain locations within urban areas are created into sensor map images through the self-developed PNN deep learning technique. It is noteworthy that the positioning service is possible only with a smartphone using AI without any additional equipment.

In fact, as ESG management and the Serious Accident Punishment Act are emphasized and interest in safety is increasing, companies that operate safety management systems based on people’s locations in power plants, train stations, construction sites, etc. are attracting attention.

Papaya, which conducted a demonstration project at the Gyeonggi Business Growth Center in Pangyo 2nd Techno Valley located in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, said, “We developed the technology until last year and worked hard to create meaningful demonstration cases such as construction sites, tunnels, large supermarkets, and subway stations, and launched an MVP product. did. “This year, based on this, we are advancing our technology and products in earnest and conducting a demonstration project with the Korea Electric Power Plant and Pangyo power plant to conduct full-scale business,” he said.

He continued, “It is important to test the technology we have developed in various types of buildings. “Pangyo is a suitable environment for testing as there are many newly built large buildings,” he said. “In addition, we are upgrading this to a SaaS-type product and preparing to enable customers to use our technology more conveniently.”
