Naver Corporation announced that it successfully completed the AI project challenge ‘CLOVA AI RUSH 2022’, which was conducted for about two months starting last July. Next, a conference was held on the 7th to share the final results of the challenge along with Naver’s latest AI technologies.
CLOVA AI RUSH is a modeling and planning challenge that utilizes Naver’s data and infrastructure to develop AI models that can be applied to actual services or to propose new services. In particular, this year, in addition to the existing ‘AI modeling development’, a new ‘AI service planning’ field was established, attracting a lot of participation from not only prospective developers but also prospective planners. In the AI Service Planning Challenge, a program has been prepared to create new services and functions using the large-scale AI ‘HyperCLOVA’ technology developed by Naver for the first time in Korea.
Naver concluded the two-month challenge and held the ‘CLOVA AI RUSH Conference 2022’, an event to share the results of the challenge and Naver’s latest AI technology. The conference was held by implementing the offline event venue online using the metaverse platform ‘Gather Town’, and about 200 challenge participants and Naver officials attended.
At the conference, following awards to the best participants in this challenge, the first place winners presented the model development and service planning process and the results. In the field of AI modeling development, the results of seven tasks were shared, including ▲development of a place image score measurement model ▲inference of songs included in playlists ▲extraction of user embeddings using shopping data. In the field of AI service planning, ▲planning of AI services that enable natural conversation ▲ The results of an AI service planning project that can be helpful to online shopping businesses have been announced. The results of the second and third place winners in each category were also shared through the poster booth. A total of 200 million won in prize money and recruitment benefits will be provided to excellent participants.
A session was also held where Naver developers and service planners served as presenters and shared examples of Naver’s AI technology and services based on it. Presenters shared the latest AI technologies, such as large-scale AI-based technology for user modeling (User Foundation Model) and HyperCLOVA document summary model (HyperCLOVA Summarization) applied to Clovanote’s ‘AI Summary’ function. In addition, Naver’s AI dubbing service ‘Clova Dubbing’, which has recently surpassed 1 million subscribers and is receiving positive response from users, was introduced.
Following the presentation session, participants talked freely with Naver’s AI developers and service planners at the networking booth, shared insights, and also provided recruitment-related consultations.
Seok-geun Jeong, CEO of Naver Clova CIC, said, “Through this challenge, we were able to grow together by interacting with various talents ranging from AI model development to service planning.” He added, “CLOVA AI RUSH will continue to revitalize the AI-related technology community and provide AI talent that can solve real-world problems. “We will strive to play an important role in training,” he said.
