Kakao announced that it is recruiting for the second term of ‘Kakao Cloud School’, a cloud professional education program targeting job seekers and college students.
Early this year, Kakao was selected as a business operator for ‘K-Digital Training’, a training program for nurturing key practical talent for new digital technologies promoted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Vocational Competency Review and Assessment Service, and is operating the ‘Digital Leading Company Academy’ training course, and Kakao Cloud School is this training course. It is part of the process.
This training course will be conducted in collaboration with the Radio Promotion Association of Korea (RAPA) under the Ministry of Science and ICT. Over a total of 1,000 hours over a period of 6 months, we created a curriculum to train practical-oriented professionals, including the operation, development, and management of cloud systems. It will be divided into two courses, ‘Kakao Cloud Developer Training Course’ and ‘Kakao Cloud Engineer Training Course’, and a total of 50 people will be selected, 25 people for each course.
In ‘Kakao Cloud School’, about 10 people currently in charge of cloud work at Kakao participate in training as instructors and mentors. It focuses on field work, building and operating a cloud in Kakao’s actual development work environment. Kakao’s self-developed cloud-based learning management system SaaS (Software as a Service), ‘Krempoline’, will also be applied on a pilot basis.
Kakao selected the first class of ‘Kakao Cloud School’ early this year and has been providing training since last June. In particular, there is a lot of interest in project mentoring in which actual Kakao developers participate. The first class of students said, “It was a more meaningful time because I was able to hear know-how that could be directly applied to the field.”
To participate in the 2nd ‘Kakao Cloud School’, please apply by October 10th on the ‘Kakao Cloud School’ recruitment website. The final successful candidates will be selected on October 21st after a document screening, personality and aptitude test, and an interview with Kakao’s working staff. After the course is completed, awards will be given to outstanding trainees, and all graduates will be given preferential benefits in document screening when applying for future Kakao developer employment.
Gong-Jun Gong, head of the Kakao Cloud Platform team, said, “‘Kakao Cloud School’ will be developed into a program that will allow Kakao business managers to directly participate in training to discover and nurture development personnel, which will lead to the creation of social employment.” He added, “In addition to Cloud School, there are various other programs. “We will make great efforts to foster innovative talent with potential through the program,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kakao has been operating ‘Kakao Track’, which provides customized education for companies, in collaboration with Jeju National University’s Engineering Education Innovation Center since 2007. KakaoTrack is a successful industry-academia program where companies and universities achieve a win-win by carrying out △Kakao executives and employees directly teaching major subjects as track adjunct professors, △mentoring and field training with employees, △selecting students to participate in the track, and operating an internship program. It is evolving into a collaborative model.
