Kakao Enterprise and Gachon University will begin training digital professionals based on artificial intelligence (AI) and big data technology. Kakao Enterprise and Gachon University signed a ‘business agreement to build a higher education innovation platform’ and announced that they will operate a ‘recruitment-linked software academy’ with support from the ‘Campus Software Academy’ project newly established by the Ministry of Science and ICT.

Kakao Enterprise opened a boot camp-type software academy within Gachon University to cultivate capable software talent who have gone beyond simple coding skills and received computer engineering theory and project-oriented training.

Kakao Enterprise, together with Gachon University, opens customized courses such as machine learning, computer vision, and web programming, and operates intensive courses for students to work in teams to carry out projects. Up to 150 students who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion and an internship linked to employment conducted by Kakao Community.

In addition, Gachon University and Kakao Enterprise plan to cooperate in the development of AI and big data-based education platforms and education services, and to establish and spread the foundation for future talent education. In addition, Gachon University introduced ‘Kakao Work’, a digital education platform that provides a smart collaboration environment to foster talent and innovate communication within the school. Currently, approximately 30,000 students, professors, and staff are using Kakao Work’s various functions for class-related communication, communication between faculty and staff, and group assignments between students.

Gachon University President Lee Gil-ya said, “The opening of this academy will be a model that can solve the problem of lack of software talent and mismatch between companies and universities at once,” adding, “Immediate results can be achieved in the field through intensive project education led by companies.” “We will train as many practical software engineers as possible,” he said.

Baek Sang-yeop, CEO of Kakao Enterprise, said, “Kakao Enterprise, Korea’s leading IT platform company, wants to join Gachon University’s vision of ‘becoming a platform university for student success’ and work together to achieve various innovations within the university.” He added, “With this agreement, Gachon University “I hope that we can continue to foster capable AI talent together with Daewoo and contribute to accelerating global digital innovation beyond Korea.”
