AhnLab announced on the 6th (Thursday) that it had invited Professor Hong Jong-ho of Seoul National University’s Graduate School of Environmental Science to deliver a special environmental lecture for executives and employees on the topic of ‘climate crisis.’
This special lecture on the climate crisis, the second following the September lecture that looked at the overall climate crisis, focused on ‘the impact of the climate crisis on the Korean economy and corporate management.’
Professor Hong Jong-ho shared insights on the climate crisis with AhnLab executives and staff from the perspective of an economist. Professor Hong Jong-ho said, “One of the risks currently facing the Korean industry is how well it responds to the ‘smoke-free era’ represented by carbon neutrality.” He added, “At a time when decarbonization has become the new norm, carbon competitiveness is climate competitiveness. “Interest is the company’s competitiveness,” he said. In addition, he pointed out the domestic reality where renewable energy utilization is still low and expressed the importance of energy transition.
This lecture is part of AhnLab’s monthly ESG education on one of the following topics: environment, human rights, and anti-corruption. Since December of last year, AhnLab has been providing environmental education on various topics such as ‘How to separate waste’, ‘Change in awareness of reusable cup use’, ‘Harmful chemicals in everyday life’, and ‘Climate crisis’. The special lecture was broadcast in real time within the company at the same time as the on-site training, and executives and employees can rewatch past training videos on the in-house system.
Meanwhile, AhnLab announced its ‘Environmental Management Policy’ last June and is making efforts to practice environmental management by obtaining ISO14001 certification, the international standard for environmental management systems, in July. In particular, we are focusing on ‘Every Little Detail’ (managing every detail for the environment) that can be practiced as an IT/SW company, such as ▲installation of rainwater removers for umbrellas to replace disposable plastic, ▲construction of electric vehicle charging facilities, and ▲use of reusable cups in in-house cafes. .
