GSIL, a smart safety company, announced that it has signed a three-party business agreement with Samsung Electronics and Samsung Engineering to establish smart safety standards and joint commercialization.

Through this business agreement, the three companies will use Samsung Electronics’ smart devices to develop and advance smart safety management systems in construction or industrial sites and jointly pursue projects. In addition, the purpose is to cooperate to promote mutual benefit by cooperating in technology development, terminal supply, and services necessary for business promotion.

Samsung Electronics is responsible for supplying mobile devices such as smart watches and tablets required to operate smart safety systems, and supports solution integration necessary for system development.

Samsung Engineering contributes to the advancement of solutions and services by piloting the system at construction sites and is responsible for system operation and marketing support.

As a company specializing in smart safety in construction or industrial sites, GSIL is responsible for system configuration and solution development, and plans to support overall planning, promotion, and marketing activities to revitalize the business.

In fact, GSIL, together with Samsung Engineering, is conducting on-site demonstration of a smart safety system at the world’s largest Samsung Electronics semiconductor construction site, and through this, the system is being advanced and field capabilities are being strengthened.

This business agreement between the three companies has greater significance as it is being carried out amidst the growing social importance of safety, such as the enforcement of the Severe Accident Punishment Act and strengthening ESG management. While there is currently no domestic smart safety standard, GSIL is leading the smart safety industry by promoting the establishment of smart safety standards at the global level. In addition, we plan to contribute to improving the overall safety level of the industry by providing not only safety management from an on-site perspective but also a total safety management solution using data.

Jeong-woo Lee, CEO of GSIL, said, “In 2020, we developed a mobile-based ‘Smart Safety Platform (SSP)’ based on Samsung Engineering’s safety-related data and know-how,” adding, “The accumulated experience and know-how of cooperation “Based on this, I want to become a good example of how large corporations and startups cooperate together to contribute to safety,” he said.

Meanwhile, GSIL is building and operating a smart safety system at sites affiliated with the Gangwon headquarters of the National Railroad Authority, Korea Environment Corporation, Korea Midland Power Company, and Welcron Hantech. Recently, it was selected as the company of the year in the ‘Severe Accident Prevention Solution Category’ at the 2022 Korea Leading Company Awards’ ESG Management Awards.
