KM Solution, a transportation franchise business subsidiary of Kakao Mobility, received a ministerial commendation for ‘operating platform-based temporary taxi driving qualifications’ at the ‘2022 Korea Digital Innovation Award’.
The ‘Digital Innovation Award’, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, is a representative government award ceremony in the field of information and communication technology, and has annually selected companies, institutions, and people of merit who have contributed to national economic development through digital convergence and utilization. This year, it was held at the Pangyo Startup Campus in Seongnam-si on the 3rd, with 20 organizations and 13 people of merit attending as awardees.
The ‘Platform-based temporary taxi driving qualification operation’, which received a commendation from the minister, was designed by KM Solution for the first time in the domestic platform taxi industry in September 2020 and introduced to Kakao T Blue, and has spread throughout the platform taxi industry. In this way, over the past two years, it has been highly evaluated for serving as a positive stepping stone for the influx of new personnel and revitalization of the market in the taxi industry.
In particular, it was recognized for its contribution to ▲providing opportunities for work experience before obtaining a taxi license, ▲resolving chronic hiring difficulties in the taxi industry, and ▲ revitalizing the platform-based franchise taxi industry.
Through ‘platform-based temporary taxi driving qualification operation’, KM Solution ▲checks the operation efficiency of each Kakao T Blue vehicle in real time based on the IT control system and ▲uses sales support technologies such as automatic dispatch and mobile navigation to immediately hire even novice drivers. We have created an environment where practical participation is possible. In fact, in the first half of this year, more than 40% of KM Solution’s Kakao T Blue articles and more than 50% of Kakao T Blue’s employment for young people under 40 came through temporary certificates, proving its effectiveness.
In the existing taxi industry, which has been operated based on loitering sales, it was difficult to monitor and analyze the operation status of each vehicle, so working as a taxi driver required a rather long and complicated certification acquisition process. This is a major obstacle to the influx of new personnel into the taxi market, and has been considered a major cause of the aging of today’s domestic taxi market.
Ahn Gyu-jin, CEO of KM Solution, said, “Receiving the Minister’s Award for ‘Platform-based Temporary Taxi Driver Qualification Operation’ is the result of our continuous efforts to contribute to the development of the taxi industry and revitalization of the market based on ICT technology.” He added, “We will continue to have a sense of social responsibility in the future.” Based on this, we will work hard to make taxis a quality job through Kakao Mobility and KM Solutions’ unique big data analysis know-how and advanced IT technology.”
