Krafton Co., Ltd.’s art book ‘Crossing the Limit’, prepared to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the serialization of author Lee Young-do’s fantasy novel ‘The Bird Who Drinks Tears’, begins pre-order sales.
The art book ‘Crossing the Limit’ fully embodies the worldview and characters in the original work, which were previously only available in the text of the novel, through visualized images. The art book contains over 300 illustrations depicting characters, races, backgrounds, clothing, etc., as well as a synopsis and detailed interpretation of the work.
The art book ‘Crossing the Limit’ will be available for pre-order at major online bookstores from the 11th to the 17th of this month, and 8 types of first edition limited-edition big postcards will be provided as a pre-order bonus. In addition, publisher Golden Branch’s online novel platform ‘Brit G’ will also pre-order the art book and provide a lenticular A4 poster as a special bonus. The art book will be available at offline bookstores from the 18th.
This art book is the essence of Krafton’s visual R&D work on ‘The Bird That Drinks Tears’ that has been in progress for the past two years. Krafton has been conducting visual R&D as preliminary work to expand the original IP into various creative products such as games and videos. In addition, fierce efforts have been made to present results that fans and readers of the original work can relate to.
Krafton first unveiled some of the concept art in 2021 when it started ‘Project Windless’ to expand the intellectual property rights (IP) of ‘The Bird Who Drinks Tears’, and in August of this year, the ‘Bird Who Drinks Tears’ was released. Announcing the new IP-based game project ‘UNANNOUNCED PROJECT’, additional concept art was released. In particular, the visual concept trailer ‘Naga Slayer’ released in September received great reviews from fans around the world.
The visual R&D work for ‘The Bird Who Drinks Tears’ was carried out by Team Windless, led by Krafton’s art director Gwangjae Son, and design director Iain McCaig, who participated in the early character visualizations of various blockbuster movies such as Star Wars and The Avengers. ) has been in charge.

Meanwhile, in order to grow ‘The Bird Who Drinks Tears’ into a global IP, Krafton aims to expand the IP with originality while remaining faithful to the original, while also providing various forms of content to global users.
