Krafton Co., Ltd. announced that the art book ‘Crossing the Limit’, prepared to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the serialization of author Lee Young-do’s fantasy novel ‘The Bird Who Drinks Tears’, ranked #1 on the weekly bestseller list.
Based on the weekly bestseller rankings of major online bookstores on the 15th, the art book ‘Crossing the Limit’ ranked 1st overall at Aladdin, 1st in the art/popular culture category at Kyobo Bookstore, and 1st in the art category at Yes24. This is an achievement achieved by receiving a warm response from fans and readers of the original work just 4 days after pre-order sales began on the 11th.
This art book fully embodies the worldview and characters in the original work, which were only available through the text of the novel, in visualized images. The art book contains over 300 illustrations depicting characters, races, backgrounds, and clothing, as well as a synopsis and detailed interpretation of the work.
It is also the essence of the visual R&D work on ‘The Bird Who Drinks Tears’ that Krafton has been carrying out for the past two years. Krafton has been conducting visual R&D as preliminary work to expand the original IP into various creative products such as games and videos. In addition, fierce efforts have been made to present results that fans and readers of the original work can relate to.
In order to grow ‘The Bird Who Drinks Tears’ into a global IP, Krafton is working on expanding the IP with originality while remaining faithful to the original. At the same time, the goal is to provide various forms of content to global users. Next year, we plan to release a graphic novel to introduce ‘The Bird Who Drinks Tears’ to more global readers.
Meanwhile, the art book ‘Crossing the Limit’ will be available for pre-order at major online bookstores until the 17th, and 8 types of big postcards limited to the first edition will be provided as a pre-order bonus. In addition, publisher Golden Branch’s online novel platform ‘Brit G’ is also selling art books for pre-order, and is giving away a lenticular A4 poster where the picture looks different depending on the angle as a special bonus. The art book will be available at offline bookstores from the 18th.
