Antler Korea announced its investment in 16 batch 1 startups a year after announcing its entry into Korea. This achievement was achieved three months after launching the first batch of Antler Korea’s unique ‘Startup Generator’ program.
Antler’s ‘Startup Generator’ program is the first investment model attempted in Korea and is a hybrid model of ‘Company Builder’, a startup led by an investment company, and ‘Accelerator’, which fosters and invests in early startups. It is similar to Company Builder in that early startup members are individually selected and startup items are developed together, but there is a major structural difference in that the founder owns 90% of the shares and takes the lead in running the business.
More than 900 prospective entrepreneurs applied for Antler Korea batch 1, which was launched last July. The final 80 people were selected through screening, and among them, 16 teams were selected for investment from the ‘Antler GCCEI (Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy Innovation) Fund’, and the top 5% of founders succeeded in attracting investment. In particular, it was announced that 11 of the 16 teams that received investment from Antler Korea’s batch 1 will receive support from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ private-led preliminary start-up support program ‘Seed Tips’.
