LetinAR will unveil ‘KEPLAR’, a product using its own plastic optical technology, for the first time at CES 2023.
LetinAR is a startup founded in October 2016 and is developing the optical system of AR glasses with its own technology. With its differentiated technology, it succeeded in attracting Series B investment, which was unusual in the domestic AR/VR hardware field, and grew into a leading company. The cumulative investment that LetinAR has attracted from many domestic and foreign investors, including Naver D2SF and Kakao Ventures located in Pangyo, amounts to approximately 17.1 billion won.
In particular, LetinAR has been receiving industry attention by succeeding in mass producing AR optical systems made of ultra-light binocular plastic for the first time in the world starting in 2022. Compared to glass AR optics, the plastic AR optical system is receiving good reviews for its ▲60% lighter weight, ▲efficient mass production, ▲comfortable fit like regular glasses, and ▲high stability.
LetinAR plans to participate in CES 2023 and unveil ‘KEPLAR’ and its actual plastic AR optical system for the first time in the world at an exhibition hall dedicated to innovation award-winning products, and is receiving great attention from global companies and investors even before the opening. At CES 2023, we plan to set up our own booth to showcase the actual plastic AR optical system and continue discussions on collaboration with global companies and investors.
Kim Jae-hyuk, CEO of Letinal, said, “The most important factors for augmented reality (AR) smart glasses, known as the gateway to the metaverse, to become popular are ▲ realistic fit and weight ▲ power efficiency that can be worn all day ▲ unbreakable safety.” “Through the development of simple, small, and efficient augmented reality optical system technology made of plastic, the metaverse, which was the biggest topic of the year, can be realized in the near future,” he expressed his ambition.
Yang Sang-Hwan, leader of Naver D2SF, who has continued to make strategic investments in LetinAR from seed to Series B round, said, “LetinAR has been attending CES since 2017 and has achieved substantial business results with customers in the U.S. and Europe.” “With this opportunity, we expect to expand our business with a wider customer base and solidify our position once again as a global representative company in the augmented reality hardware market.”
Meanwhile, LetinAR’s ‘KEPLAR’ received the CES Innovation Award last November in recognition of significantly increasing the usability of AR glasses by successfully producing an ultra-light binocular plastic AR optical system that is 4 times wider and 9 times clearer than before.
