Through a disclosure on the 16th, Hancom recorded sales of KRW 401.3 billion and operating profit of KRW 68.2 billion on a consolidated basis in 2020, growing 25.7% and 105.4%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. On a separate basis, it recorded sales of KRW 109.3 billion and operating profit of KRW 32.6 billion. It was announced that an operating profit margin of 29.8% was achieved.
The expansion of new demand for Hancom Office and the growth of major consolidated subsidiaries contributed greatly to the record-high annual performance following recording earnings surprises every quarter last year.
Hancom’s sales and operating profit both grew as the number of new B2B and B2C customers for Hancom Office increased due to the spread of telecommuting. In addition, the number of users of the non-face-to-face service cloud office ‘Hancom Space’ is rapidly increasing, and Hancom recorded the highest growth rate of 8.9% in the last three business years as it quickly responded to changes caused by COVID-19.
Hancom Lifecare, a consolidated subsidiary, has solidified its position as a leading company in the disaster and safety business, including personal safety equipment for firefighting, and has recorded consolidated sales of KRW 151.8 billion through domestic and overseas supply of home safety products such as personal quarantine masks, which began in earnest last year, recording KRW 128.6 billion in sales compared to the previous year. Achieved rapid growth of %. Hancom MDS has laid the foundation for business expansion in the mobility field by continuously supplying autonomous driving simulators, and has also confirmed the possibility of additional exports through the successful export of its strategically developed self-developed IoT platform ‘NeoIDM’ to Japan. .
Hancom plans to focus on the cloud and service sectors this year as well. Hancom’s cloud office, ‘Hancom Space’, was selected in the telecommuting category of the government’s ‘K-non-face-to-face service voucher project’ last year and was also selected as KOTRA’s next-generation world-class product, so its technology and marketability have been sufficiently verified, and it is expected to be used domestically and internationally. We plan to target overseas markets simultaneously.
In Korea, the strategy is to focus on continuous expansion of the B2B market and utilize partnerships in the cloud field such as KT, Naver, Naver Cloud, and NHN. Overseas, we are strengthening cooperation with Amazon Web Services (AWS), and in the first quarter of this year, we launched an integrated business collaboration platform service encompassing various business services such as office software, email, messenger, and video conferencing, focusing on global expansion and mid- to long-term growth. We plan to focus on fostering the cloud business as a driving force.
Hancom Lifecare is expected to see visible results in new businesses this year based on its rapid growth. As the demonstration project stage, such as the digital twin-based fire safety platform and unmanned automatic fire surveillance drone, is being completed, we plan to expand smart city projects through the integration of IT technology with disaster safety and life safety fields.
