-Easy to use within KakaoTalk without separate installation, expected to be used efficiently with high accessibility

Kakao (Co-CEOs Yeo Min-soo and Jo Soo-yong) announced on the 20th that it will launch the ‘Group FaceTalk’ function, which allows multiple users to make video calls on KakaoTalk, as a beta service.

As non-face-to-face communication has become essential after COVID-19 and the use of KakaoTalk-based voice and video functions has increased, Group FaceTalk was launched to increase user convenience. A new video call function has been added to KakaoTalk, which supports 1:1 Voice Talk, Face Talk, Group Call, and Live Talk as non-face-to-face functions.

It can be used in the KakaoTalk group chat room, and up to 10 people can participate simultaneously. To start, press the ‘+’ button on the left side of the group chat room input window and select Group FaceTalk. If it is a group chat room with more than 10 people, you can use it after selecting the friends who want to participate in the group FaceTalk.

It also contains convenient and interesting elements for users. In addition to the full screen, it can be used as a small floating screen, and when you select ‘Turn off screen’, your KakaoTalk profile or Kakao Friends characters can be displayed on the screen. It also provides ‘quick sympathy’ that uses dedicated emoticons to express likes, yeses, and WOWs between participants. Emoticons purchased by users can also be used.

The Group FaceTalk beta function is available on mobile and Mac KakaoTalk, and will be added to Windows PC KakaoTalk in the future.

A Kakao official said, “As non-face-to-face daily life continues and there continues to be a demand for a function that allows multiple users to communicate via video at the same time, we have introduced a new group FaceTalk,” adding, “Like other non-face-to-face features of KakaoTalk, we have introduced a new group FaceTalk.” “It is accessible and convenient, so it is expected to be highly useful in a variety of situations, from use between acquaintances and family members to simple business meetings for teams,” he said.

Meanwhile, the KakaoTalk Group FaceTalk function can be used after updating to iOS and Android KakaoTalk v9.3.0 or higher, and Mac KakaoTalk v2.8.9 or higher, respectively.
