    [Pangyo Game & Contents] Kakao Entertainment signs partnership with ‘League of Legends’ League LCK

    Kakao Entertainment (CEO  Jinsu Lee ,  Seongsoo Kim ) announced on the 22nd  that it has signed a partnership agreement  with League of Legends Champions Korea (CEO Sangheon Oh , hereinafter referred to as  LCK) , which hosts the Korean professional league of  League of Legends (LoL)’ esports .

     The agreement ceremony held at LoL Park  in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 21st  was attended by key officials from both companies, including Park Jong-cheol, head of Kakao Entertainment’s platform business division, and  LCK CEO Oh Sang-heon .

    Kakao Entertainment and  LCK have   been collaborating since the 2021 LCK Spring Playoffs . At the time, a project linking Kakao Entertainment ‘s representative super  IP  ‘Only Level Up ‘ and  LCK was  carried out , and the project  received favorable reviews from fans who liked webtoons and e-sports . Kakao Entertainment   is planning to expand  the scope of collaboration with LCK  in the future and conduct sponsorship marketing in earnest starting from the Summer Split .  

    The LCK  announced a new beginning by introducing a franchise system starting in the spring of 2021 . Various changes have been attempted, such as changing the playoff method , increasing the prize money , and raising the minimum salary, and the Summer Split  is providing a lot of fun to e-sports fans by introducing an integrated roster , shortening the call-up and send-down cycle , and changing the method of selecting a side .

    Kakao Entertainment, a global company with over 8,500 leading original  IPs , is based on content targeting the tastes of the MZ generation, such  as  ‘ Only I Level Up ’, ‘ Itaewon Class ’, ‘ Amazing Rumors ’, and ‘ Company Confrontation ’  ,  in the U.S. It is leading the K webtoon syndrome all over the world,  including Japan and  Southeast Asia . This collaboration between  Kakao Entertainment and  LCK is expected to provide a more three-dimensional and interesting experience to the global MZ generation . Kakao Entertainment and  LCK are currently  releasing LCK-  based  Summer : Summer is Coming on Kakao Page to mark the opening of the  2021 LCK Summer  .

    Park Jong-cheol ,  head of  Kakao Entertainment  ’s  platform business division , said,  “ LCK is a league eagerly awaited by e-sports fans around the  world , and entertainment  content enjoyed by the global  MZ  generation .  ” We are informing from the front lines . “We hope that the collaboration between Kakao Entertainment and  LCK  will become an endless driving force for the global advancement of both companies, ” he said .  

    LCK CEO Oh Sang-heon said,  “Kakao Entertainment’s soft power goes beyond Korea and has an impact on the world, ” adding,  “LCK is also internationally competitive to the point  that e-sports fans around the world are watching and it  is broadcast in six languages, so we decided to pursue this partnership.” Through this, both companies hope to further develop into content that is loved internationally. “He said .

    Meanwhile,  the 2021 LCK Summer Split  started on the 9th, and  the competition is so fierce that it is said that there is no strong player from the beginning . The 2021 LCK Summer is being held offline while complying with the COVID-19 government measures .
