    – This is the first case of introduction in the education field, securing a bridgehead for future expansion of the open OS market.

Hangul and Computer (CEO Byun Seong-jun, hereinafter referred to as Hancom) supplies the open OS ‘Hancom Cloud’ to Anyang University (President Park No-jun).

Hancom was selected as the host organization for the ‘2021 Open OS Private Pilot Introduction Support Project’ hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Lim Hye-sook) and supported by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (Director Kim Chang-yong), and will be supported by Anyang University, a participating institution, by November. Hancom Cloud, an open OS, will be built on a pilot basis to use the academic administration system.

Hancom partially converts the operating system of PCs used in Anyang University’s campus computer lab, book search room, computer development and administrative departments to Hancom Cloud instead of the existing MS Windows. In addition, Hancom Cloud provides Hancom Office and Cloud Browser to help ensure continuity and security of the existing work environment.

In addition, Hancom Cloud’s central management server solution ‘GPMS (Gooroom Platform Management Server)’ and update server are provided to help manage users’ program installation and usage rights, data access rights, etc., helping efficient operation management.

Through this project, Hancom and Anyang University plan to derive necessary improvements in configuring and operating a multi-platform-based academic administration system using Hancom Cloud and expand the scope of application within the school step by step.

Kim Dae-gi, Vice President of Hancom Cloud, said, “This project is the first case in which Hancom Cloud, an open OS, is supplied to the education field, and we expect its utilization to increase in the future.” He added, “We will continue to advance the scalability and compatibility of Hancom Cloud to create an open OS.” “We will expand the ecosystem and expand the market by providing customized solutions according to the needs of each customer.”

Meanwhile, Hancom Cloud is an OS developed by Hancom based on the open OS ‘Cloud Platform’, supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and developed and released by the National Security Technology Research Institute and Hancom. Hancom Cloud is based on Debian Linux based on Linux kernel 4.19 and is equipped with basic applications such as cloud browser, image viewer, video player, compression program, notepad, and calculator. Hancom Cloud can be downloaded for free from the Hancom website download center, and you can download Hancom Cloud-specific ‘Hangul (hwp)’ and ‘Hancom Office’.
