[Pangyo Startup] Mango Slab, “Nemonic, a printer without ink, toner, and complicated connections, prints out your ideas!”

These days, when delivery food consumption has increased due to COVID-19, you may have seen a warm message from the restaurant owner arrive on a small notepad when you receive delivery food. There are dozens of delivery orders every day, and how can this kind of kindness come out with limited manpower?

If you have a mini printer that can easily print out notes you jot down in your daily life, it is not impossible to be friendly to customers with a small workforce. Rather, it can be used in a variety of ways, including not only delivery, but also test takers’ notes and incorrect answer notes, and office workers’ meetings and phone notes. Nemonic, a printer, adds design to the short notes we use in our daily lives and allows us to print notes without ink or toner.

    Q1. About Us

CEO Yongsoo Jeong: It is a 5-year-old startup spun off from Samsung Electronics C-LAB in 2016. Nemonic, the world’s first memo printer that prints sticky notes without ink or toner, received the Best Innovation Award at CES 2017 and has developed three printer products of each size. Cumulative sales are approximately 20 billion won, and we are currently developing new items by combining various technologies and ideas.

    Q2. Nemonic’s special benefits

CEO Jeong Yong-su: If you took notes on a PC or smartphone, there were many cumbersome elements when printing them. Nemonic is a small printer that combines analog and digital to instantly print ideas or information from smart devices onto sticky notes without ink or toner. The printed memo has excellent adhesive strength, so it can be attached wherever needed. It is the optimal conference solution that uses Bluetooth to connect up to 15 to 20 people simultaneously and output ideas sequentially.

Nemonic devices and dedicated paper come in a total of five colors, including lime green, peach pink, coconut white, berry blue, and lemon yellow, and include two types: regular note paper and paper with adhesive.

Additionally, eco-friendly elements were added to the dedicated paper. To prepare for any unexpected accidents, the paper’s unique color was realized with ink that dissolves in the human body. The adhesive ingredient is approved by the US FDA and is harmless to the human body.

    Q3. Overseas market export status

CEO Yongsoo Jeong: We were able to increase awareness overseas by winning the CES Best Innovation Award in 2017 and the Grand Prix Award at the 85th Tokyo International Gift Show in 2018. Last year, we were able to enter the U.S. market through Amazon, and through actual results, we realized that ideas can be communicated all over the world even if the language is not shared. In the future, we plan to expand our export channels to 10 countries, including Europe and Japan, as well as the United States.

Q4. Reasons for settling in Pangyo

We value ideas and the people who can realize them are more important than anything else. Pangyo has excellent location and surrounding infrastructure, but its biggest attraction is that it is a place where it is easy to find human resources. In particular, there are many innovative companies nearby, so it is helpful in recruiting development personnel and collaboration with other companies is also good.
