Nexon Foundation, Nexon’s social contribution foundation, announced on the 11th that it would join hands with Vibras Korea, an educational non-profit organization, to develop the ‘Vibras Programming’ platform where anyone from elementary school students to adults can learn computer programming for free.

Vibras programming is targeted for release in the first half of next year. The purpose is to resolve the growing gap in computer programming education depending on region and income gap and expand the base of coding education.

Vibras Korea is a non-profit organization in which more than 100 information teachers and university professors nationwide donate their talents to develop information education. Affiliated teachers and professors directly participate in the development of coding education programs.

Nexon and Vibras Korea paid attention not only to household income levels, but also to educational gaps by country and region. The annual programming class hours in domestic public education is only 51 hours, which is the lowest compared to the UK (374 hours), India (256 hours), and China (212 hours). There were also significant regional differences in the private education environment. There are 49 private institutions that teach programming in the metropolitan area, but there are only 15 in non-metropolitan areas, so educational infrastructure is concentrated in the metropolitan area.

The Nexon Foundation said, “It will be a systematic education site that covers everything from cultivating computing thinking skills, which are the basis of programming, to basic text coding and in-depth learning,” and added, “Education content that anyone can easily and independently learn by dividing the learning stages in detail. “I will make it,” he explained. The Nexon Foundation has also been operating the Nexon Youth Program Challenge program since 2016 to increase youth’s interest in programming and improve their capabilities.
