[Pangyo Tech] Challenge for overseas expansion with OZO disaster early surveillance system… Local investment expectations ‘UP’

OZO (CEO Seol Yun-ho), a robot and drone manufacturing company, announced on the 25th that it is accelerating its entry into overseas markets.

OZO is a company developing ‘PyroX’, an early monitoring solution for forest fire-type disasters. It is located in the Pangyo Startup Zone, established by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and operated by the Startup Promotion Agency and the Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center.

‘Forest fire prevention’, a global issue, is the core of the solution. To this end, we are developing an autonomous solution that complements the shortcomings of existing drone solutions, which can only fly for about 20 to 30 minutes per mission.

We plan to build a platform where drones can be recharged every 30 minutes so that they can detect the site periodically. In addition, based on the mid- to long-range drone AI data collected so far, it is expected to complete hardware platformization in 2022 for early surveillance of future forest fires.

It is expected that the response will come first from overseas, which are suffering from frequent forest fires. Ozo has been selected and receiving support from the global acceleration program ‘GAPs (Global Acceleration Program for Startups, GAPs)’ since last April.

GAPS is a program in which overseas accelerators directly select and nurture promising domestic startups and provide training and mentoring related to entering overseas markets, and is supported by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Institute of Startup and Entrepreneurship Promotion.

Ojo believes that participation in GAPS will enable it to effectively pioneer overseas markets. We are already collaborating with UC Berkeley in California on research data and technology, and with American institutions and companies to secure AI data.

Seol Yun-ho, CEO of Ojo, said, “We are currently undergoing 4 weeks of training with the American accelerator ‘10X Innovation Lab’.” He added, “After visiting California, USA in September and completing 6 weeks of training on forest fires and disaster prevention, we will be introduced to investors and partners. “It is planned,” he said.

Meanwhile, OZO has a history of achieving excellent results in several startup competitions, including the grand prize in the drone specialization category of the startup package hosted by the Forestry Promotion Agency and the gold medal in the startup storytelling contest hosted by the Korea International Trade Association Industry-Academic Cooperative Foundation.
