‘Flex Co., Ltd. (CEO Soon-il Yoon)’, a big data edutech venture, has 1,154 parent members (451 in their 20s, 401 in their 30s, 302 in their 40s and above) of its infant and toddler AI character education service ‘Kids Diary’. It was revealed on the 18th that as a result of conducting a survey on ‘character education for infants and toddlers’, 796 people, or 69%, chose the importance of ’empathy’ and ‘positive thinking’.
In a survey on ‘when character education is needed’, 70.8% of children were in infancy, 26.17% in the lower grades of elementary school, 2.34% in the upper grades of elementary school, and 0.69% in middle and high school. To the question about ‘items important for children’s growth’, 66.2% responded ‘values and character’, 18.37% ‘social relationships’, and 11.53% ‘inclination and temperament’.
Regarding the ‘teachers who conduct character education for children’, 85.36% were ‘parents (family)’, 5.37% were ‘teachers (educational institutions)’, and 9.27% were ‘community and others’. Character education is based on knowing the child’s tendencies well. They responded that it would only be effective if a parent had the experience.
In addition, the responses to ‘reasons for finding it difficult to visit a child psychological counseling center’ were ‘cost issues’ at 47.66%, ‘location difficulties in visiting’ at 13.43%, ‘social perspectives’ at 12.74%, and others at 26.17%.
One parent who participated in the survey said, “If good character can be formed during the early childhood period, children can receive counseling at any time without worrying about what others think.”
However, the financial burden of expensive counseling fees and the absence of a child psychological counseling center near the house were cited as reasons why visits are still difficult.
Lim Hye-seon, senior researcher at Flax Co., Ltd., said, “For parents of the MZ generation who are aware of the importance of character education, we will upgrade it to a customized child care service that provides both child psychological counseling and character education at home at a low cost.” “We will strive to become a ‘childcare portal brand’ for parents.”
