On the 13th, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration announced that it would open an additional ‘Defense Industry One-Stop Support Center’ in the Pangyo area to foster new defense industries and strengthen discovery and support for innovative small and medium-sized enterprises and venture companies.
The newly opened Pangyo ‘Defense Industry One-Stop Support Center’ plans to provide various support to enable excellent private small and medium-sized enterprises and venture companies with related technologies to participate in the defense industry in order to foster new defense industries such as artificial intelligence, space, and robots.
Pangyo is home to a concentration of innovative small and medium-sized enterprises and venture companies related to the 4th Industrial Revolution, and is home to the research and development centers of major defense companies such as Hanwha Aerospace and LIG Nex1, making it possible to secure cutting-edge weapon systems through the convergence and integration of existing weapon systems. It is a very important base area.
Currently, one-stop support centers for defense companies are open in Daejeon, Gumi, and Changwon.
Through the opening of the Pangyo ‘Defense Industry One-Stop Support Center’, it is expected that companies located in metropolitan areas such as Seoul and Gyeonggi will be able to receive customized consulting on-site in areas such as how to participate in the defense industry, local production of parts, exports, and offset trade.
On the same day, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration also held a defense industry information session at Pangyo 2nd Techno Valley for small and medium-sized enterprises and venture companies mainly participating in the civil sector.
The business briefing session on this day included a basic introduction to the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and various small and medium-sized venture business support projects such as the defense incubation project, venture support project, and parts localization project.
MINDs Lab CEO Taejun Yoo, who participated in the briefing session, said, “It was a very meaningful event that allowed a company like us, who had a lot of interest in the defense industry but no experience, to understand the defense business as a whole, and this served as an opportunity to develop a defense industry using our company’s artificial intelligence technology. “I will try to enable them to participate in the industry,” he said.
Kang Eun-ho, head of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, emphasized that “Pangyo is an important hub where small and medium-sized businesses and venture companies with innovative technologies related to the 4th Industrial Revolution are concentrated,” adding, “Starting with the opening of the Pangyo ‘Defense Company One-Stop Support Center’, next year we will have 4 “We will spare no effort in supporting the development of new defense industries related to the tea industrial revolution.”
