Kakao announced that its artificial intelligence (AI) technology companies, Kakao Brain and Kakao Enterprise, submitted a total of 40 AI-related papers to 25 academic societies this year.
This year, Kakao Brain published a total of 15 papers in 10 academic societies, including the ‘Medical Image Analysis’ journal. Kakao Enterprise also succeeded in submitting a total of 25 AI research papers to 15 academic societies, including the International Society for Computer Vision (ICCV).
In particular, Kakao Brain showed results in technologies that can be used in fields such as medicine and natural science in the first half of this year. In March, we participated in the LNDb Competition held in the journal Medcal Image Analysis, published one paper, and achieved the result of winning first place overall. This is about an automated AI model that can diagnose lung nodules. One paper jointly researched with Seoul National University and Chonnam National University was published in the natural science journal ‘Science Bulletin’. They developed and announced a model that can predict air pressure oscillations in advance in relation to the ‘El Niño phenomenon’, which refers to the ocean warming phenomenon that occurs off the coasts of Peru and Chile.
In May, he participated in the global academic conference ‘CVPR 2021’, registered two papers, and received an opportunity for oral presentations provided to the top 4%.
In addition, △International AI conference ‘ICML’ in July (2 cases) △November global conference ‘EMNLP’ (1 case) △International conference on computer vision ‘ICCV’ (winner) △International conference ‘New’ in the field of AI and machine learning They continued their active and positive actions, such as participating in the ‘NeurlPS’ challenge (runner-up).
He presented papers at ‘EMNLP’, a global society in the field of natural language processing, and ‘ICCV’, an international society for computer vision. Last October, it took first place in the ‘Passage Ranking’ category at the global AI natural language understanding competition ‘MS MARCO’, and took second and fourth place, respectively, in computer vision-related challenges such as ‘CCV-MFR·FRVT’.
A Kakao official said, “Following the registration of 26 cases last year, we have been recognized for our global level AI technology this year as well,” and added, “We are helping companies in various fields achieve digital transformation by utilizing AI, such as by releasing a super-large AI model, and helping companies in various fields such as healthcare. -We will resolve issues such as those in the education sector.”
